International fans stay relatively ignorant to the misogyny present in Korea because they are blinded by the bright and fun side of Hallyu. Especially in K-pop sexism is hugely represented.

It okay to keep Korea as a fantasy space. Maybe temporarily, but ignoring reality risks silencing real struggles. Enjoyment and responsibility can coexist if fans acknowledge both the art and the issues.

As a foreigner, the first thing I've learned was how fun k-pop and kdramas are, and how beautifully they portrait Korean men. The second thing I've learned after getting more into Korea was how this sociaty is full of sexual harassment, spy cameras and other disgusting actions.
