#BrexitOmertà
Good that MPs are starting to stand up to call out #BrexitDisaster in public and end #BrexitOmertà. (74% of the voters in Scotland now support #RejoinEU.

Shame that the insolent, disrespectful heckler in the background was not named by @commonsspeaker.parliament.uk

Brexit isolated us, now is the time for closer relations with the EU.

Graham Leadbitter: "A false hope deal (Brexit) that has left us far away from our European friends, desperately clinging to a US administration who doesn't care about our national interests."

Something to do with a weird ailment called Brexitomerta - which means people are clinically unable to discuss Brexit, let alone recognise it as the chaotic (and snowballing) economic, moral & practical disaster it so clearly is, for fear of offending the ever-dwindling unicorn farming community.

It isn’t just the chancellor. Labour need to stop hiding behind the sofa and explain the cost of Brexit. BBC and other media outlets need to do the same. The public already understand, but our politicians don’t acknowledge it.

Labour cower behind the sofa and continue the #BrexitOmerta while making unpopular choices to manage the impact of Brexit on UK economy.
Farage spouts lies and somehow is the beneficiary of the damage Brexit caused.
It makes no sense.

It that the BBC would acknowledge Brexit’s impact on the UK economy!

Amazing to see the negative impact of Brexit mentioned in a BBC news story.
I won’t hold my breath waiting for this to be expanded to an in depth analysis of Brexit’s impact on the wider UK economy?

Not sure the BBC would go so far as to mention Brexit - even with the aforementioned idiot topping the bill and someone who knows the true impact given a few minutes for balance.

Sad that no UK politician seems willing to acknowledge the problems caused by Brexit in the clear way that Macron did.

The only beneficiary is Farage and Reform.
July 18, 2025 at 2:24 PM
Labour are shipping votes to Reform whilst maintaining a #BrexitOmerta. If they link cuts to public services to £40bn Brexit black hole they can pin it on Farage.
#BrexitBrokeBritain
Reform would destroy the remnants.

More economic trouble for UK - NI rise causing businesses to cut jobs.
Why Labour isn’t willing to highlight the cost of #Brexit and look to rejoin the customs union to reduce bureaucracy and encourage growth is beyond me.

Labour’s #BrexitOmerta isn’t going to align more of the public to rejoining the EU. It also lets Farage off the hook for the economic and other damage his flagship hard Brexit policy caused. A full rejoin may take time, but those advocating to reverse Brexit are not the problem.
July 14, 2025 at 6:53 AM
Once again no mention of the impact of Brexit on the UK economy’s anaemic growth. No attempt to pin the problems on Farage. Standard fare from UK politicians and media.

Farage’s solution - the hardest possible Brexit - led directly to the small boats issue. #BrexitHasFailed comprehensively. Yet he is never challenged. The #BrexitOmerta still means politicians don’t link the #Brexit £40bn hit a year to UK public finance to cuts and poor services.
July 11, 2025 at 6:15 AM
Yet Labour won’t link the £40bn govt finance black hole with the £100bn lopped off the UK economy due to Brexit or do anything to repair the damage of Brexit. #BrexitBrokeBritain and Labour are part of the #BrexitOmerta not showing leadership
July 5, 2025 at 10:36 PM
In my unasked opinion Labour and Starmer’s unwillingness to link UK Govt finance £40bn black hole with the £40bn impact of Brexit is what opens the door to Farage. Labour need to stop the #BrexitOmerta
July 5, 2025 at 6:34 PM
Labour could recover if they were brave enough to link the £40bn black hole in public finances to the £40bn hit from Brexit and rejoin CU ahead of applying to rejoin EU. But they keep their head on the sands of Brexit. #BrexitOmerta
July 5, 2025 at 6:18 PM
Leavers aren’t asked to take responsibility for the £100bn hit to the UK economy from Brexit because politicians - particularly Labour - are unwilling to say it. And Farage grins like the wide mouth frog he is never being held to account. #BrexitOmerta
July 5, 2025 at 6:12 PM
It’s incredible that Farage gets away with the cost of #BrexitChaos because Labour are unwilling to acknowledge the cost of the damage caused by Brexit. £40bn is the black hole. Yet Labour continue the #BrexitOmerta and Farage grins like a wide mouth frog 🐸
July 5, 2025 at 6:08 PM
You can only make the best of Brexit by reversing it. £100bn hot to UK economy = Govt finances in a mess = tough choices and cuts. But never acknowledged by politicians. #BrexitOmerta
July 5, 2025 at 6:04 PM
Mainly undo Brexit. The £40bn black hole is the #BrexitChaos black hole. Start by rejoining the customs union to reduce red tape and encourage growth. But politicians never say the obvious. #BrexitOmerta
July 4, 2025 at 7:32 PM
Brexit was always going to weaken UK yet still our politicians don’t seem capable of acknowledging the harm. Tough choices = Brexit consequences. Not said so Farage, the Godfather of BrexitChaos, rides high. #BrexitOmerta
July 4, 2025 at 7:01 PM
What I cannot fathom is why the shambles and waste that followed the Brexit lies isn’t placed firmly at the foot of Farage. He was the cheerleader for a £40bn hit to the UK economy that needs to be reversed. #BrexitHasFailed #BrexitOmerta

#BrexitOmerta is exactly what this Labour government is encouraging across its government and back benches, with all Labour MP’s parroting the party line. How long until the dam breaks and good economic sense prevails?
