Nicky, a dark-haired butch in a bomber jacket, and Henry, a blonde butch in a brown suit, make smug eyes at each other. They lean in over interlocked, heart-shaped carabiner frames, which are red and orange colors pulled from the sunset lesbian flag. Henry, a shorter butch in a loose-cut suit and buttonup, clips elbows with Nicky - a taller butch with a dark pompadour of hair, who seems near tears. Startled out of crying, Nicky coughs into her fist. "Watch it." Henry's already brushing imagined dust off Nick's bomber jacket. "Well, 'scuse me, handsome." She says, "Don't think I've seen you around before." "Why the long face?" she continues, as Nicky turns to look over her shoulder. Behind them, at the far end of the bar, the woman she'd been fleeing from is leaning against a tall figure by the pool table. "It's-" Nicky stumbles. ..."It's nothing." The scene continues - a gleam in Henry's eye, in closeup, as she follows Nicky's line of sight. "Nothin, huh..." She leads Nick away, folding her arm into the taller woman's elbow. She talks to her conspiratorially, other hand curled close to her mouth, despite how no one in this dive is paying attention. "You can tell me, pal-" Henry assures her, "what, you get dumped?" Nick's eyes squint closed at the thought. "I- I guess." Henry pats her arm in sympathy. "That's a cryin' shame." As she continues speaking, something shifts - Nicky turns back to look at her, stark against flat black backdrop. "But hey, you're not the first, right?" Henry's saying. "It's just askin' for trouble, goin' with a weekend girl." "A weekend...?" Nicky questions, uncertainty painted on her face. "Aw, you know," Henry lilts, waving the concept around with one hand. "Straight. Except on weekends. Like I said-" Whatever she's said is cut off, as we look at Nicky's reaction - the close-up flash of light in her eye as her expression shifts to something darker - furious.
