played that SF2 Prime hack and it's pretty fun playing a version of SF2 that's something between CPS1 and CPS2 (Ryu has his overhead, Akuma is there)
visible stun bar is fun. Throws are VERY easy to tech though so it's weird

god the arcade Sheeva sprites look good. I feel like if we didn't pretty much forget about arcade MK entirely locally when we got our paws on stuff like Tekken 2 and the later CPS2 stuff, I probably would have known this, but the home versions don't really sell how good the model they built looks...

apparently final burn alpha devs were harrassed in the early 2000s over capcom cps2 games not working. in a time. before we had proper emulation of its protection

I'll probably plop the bigger SATA drive in the mini PC because its going into my New Astro City and I'm only emulating CPS, CPS2, CPS3 games. Thats enough space.
The 8 TB is for the Plex server.
The SSD was for an ancient mac mini but I don't know what I'd use it for now. Home server?

Their CPS2 into CPS3 era is when they were *the* 2D art department during this time in games, and I would argue in one of the top spots across all mediums at the time.

cps2 juggernaut is absolutely one of the best looking and sounding characters from an era of capcom games with nothing but great looking and sounding characters so yeah. some folks deserve medals they probably didn't get

If you're a fan of classic fighting games, both the saturn and dreamcast are practically must owns. Great renditions of cps2 and neo geo and naomi games in places where other platforms fumbled hard. Hell, the dreamcast could even (somewhat) do cps3 games.

The sad part is Vsav only has 1 more _total_ character on it's roster, with Donovan, Pyron, and Phobos being dropped. Darkstalkers characters had so much animation they literally could not fit all of them onto the CPS2 arcade boards.

With that said, I REALLY like it. Very color backgrounds, super vibrant sprites, dope CPS2-inspired music. All awesome! One critique I do have is that the jumps in this game feel a little TOO floaty. Not a deal breaker though.

It's been a long while and I've been dying to do this for a long time. A Pokemon CPS2 style sprites as I love to see a MVC style Pokemon Fighting game. Starting off with Darkrai with Lucario.

Yeah, this is pretty much my stance as well.
That said, I do think the jump to 480p hurt a lot of the CPS2 era sprites in CvS2; I personally think Morrigan came out the other end of that better than some of the Alpha characters

cps1 all day for me, i just like the instruments and scratchier sound better. also basslines trend way groovier like for gief and blanka. the hsf2 cps1 style covers for the nc tracks are not hits tho they don't count, all the new tracks sound good in cps2 anyway

biggest thing cps1 sf2 has over cps2 is that the character select theme is way better

Not enough people talking about whether they prefer the CPS1 or CPS2 ver. of the SF2 soundtrack
I'm really mixed. I like the punch some themes have (Zangief, Ryu, Chun, Sagat) but I really just prefer the clearer instruments on a lot of the CPS2 tracks (Vega, Guile, Ken) plus the new challengers'
