Butterfly sitting on leaf in tree canopy. Wings are closed. The colour of the underside of the wings are mainly black, with flash of yellow on the top and arcs of red, yellow and white along the wing edges. Uniquely for this species of butterfly where the outer margin of the hind wing is usually rounded, instead there is an irregular extension to the wing that some call a projection.
