Cato put out this brief statement from me critical of U.S. military strikes on suspected drug running boats, strikes that kill those aboard "without trial, legal process, or public accountability." These extrajudicial killings would be unlawful, I observe, even if all the smuggling claims were true.
Cato Legal Fellow Available to Discuss Unlawful U.S. Strikes at Sea
A senior legal scholar at the Cato Institute is raising concerns about U.S. military strikes on boats suspected of smuggling — strikes that kill those aboard without trial, legal process, or public ac...

Next week is a big week for fans of Terminators and Ultramarines as the Crux Termiatus Battleforce, Marneus Calgar in Armour of Antilochus, Cato Sicarius AND Victrix Guard stride into pre-order.
And there's so much more in there too.

Umbaugenehmigung vom Denkmalamt?

When I was 20 I did a summer internship at Cato. I realized to my horror what I had done soon after and had the libertarianism surgically removed from my heart shortly thereafter.

When federal officers roll through communities in the way the Supreme Court permitted, the constitutional rights of both citizens and noncitizens are inevitably violated, argued David Bier, the director of immigration studies at the libertarian Cato Institute. www.propublica.org/article/immi...
More Than 170 U.S. Citizens Have Been Held by Immigration Agents. They’ve Been Kicked, Dragged and Detained for Days.
The government does not track how often immigration agents grab citizens. So ProPublica did. Our tally — almost certainly incomplete — includes people who were held for days without a lawyer. And near...

This has the bones of a great comedy bit along the lines of Cato and Clouseau. Trump continuously tries to kill his VPs to keep them vigilant.

Cato filed an amicus brief in RAICES v. Noem, the case challenging Trump's Border Dictator order that purports to suspend all immigration law because it is "ineffective." Our brief describes how the government's arguments are baseless www.cato.org/legal-briefs...
RAICES v. Noem
The government’s assertions are based on either misinterpretations or tortured readings of the data, attempting to find justification for a spurious legal argument in facts that simply are not there.

It rocks how this bio includes a quote from history’s first reactionary hack. Cato the Elder would have love having you as a slave (which he encouraged to feed and clothe as little as possible because buying new ones after you’ve worked the old ones to death is cheaper than caring for live slaves)

One of the rare occasions I agree with The Cato Institute.
The law in this matter is clear.
There won't be consequences for it, of course, or at least not direct consequences to those who deserve to face them.
But American soft power continues to ebb in favor of war mongering.
Peace Prize? LOL.
