$Two maps, the Venera 5 landing site at left, Venera 6 at right. Each square image is 100 km across. These are Magellan radar images with radar illumination from left to right. They show generally darkish plains with a few lighter patches which are rougher surfaces. They are crossed by bright wavy lines which are ridges produced by compression and thinner straight lines which are fractures produced by tension. There are no craters. A prominent linear fracture in the Venera 6 site has a meandering channel extending to the southeast (bottom right). It was cut by flowing lava.$

A rosy brown and pale gray bird with a black mask, a yellow chest and tail feathers, and red-tipped wings (Cedar waxwing) poses in the warm sunshine as he sits on a wax-privet branch (it was January and fairly chilly). The privet has bright green leaves and empty seed hulls, which have been picked clean by the waxwing. The frame is filled more green leaves and a rusty oak leaf all backlit by the sun.
