By the way, the bags for our treats and hot chocolates are plastic-free. They’re made from cellulose, which is fully compostable! 🎉

I just met someone who told me they refuse to go to a certain coffee shop bc their to go cups are plastic (not compostable).
And 2 mins later said they’d drive their car 1.5 mile from their home to check out some new bike infrastructure we were talking about bc “biking season is over.”

look, all I’m saying is that everything is compostable if you give it a million years.

(not to detract, but...) AHHHHHHH but the plastic can be recycled if placed in the recycling bin!!!!! The compostable cups still have a layer of "compostable" bioplastics!!!!

Watching the new @techconnectify.bsky.social video on dishwasher detergent and I have some questions about the packing it comes in. It claims to be 100% compostable, but a lot of biodegradable plastics require specific conditions for them to actually breakdown.

I get fully compostable/recyclable packaging pods for my dishmosh -- how greenwashed is that likely to be? I try buying bigger jugs where that seems the least-worst option for laundry detergent, but I have CLEANING priorities re: lots of cats here... individual optimization is the new common sense

Cargo bikes ARE single use. That’s why I buy mine in twenty-four-packs at Costco. I just wish they’d make them of compostable materials.

compostable moderation is only a good system if you can remove the subjective elements you disagree with

Each compostable tea pyramid that comes out of our machines is a lil accessibility miracle. Hearing your stories of how these are bringing high end tea joy to you at work, in the hospital, on flare days, on your travels...it all brings us so much joy!

This Halloween, the scariest thing is single-use waste that never dies.
Plastic Bags: 20+ yrs
Aluminum Cups: 100+ yrs
Plastic Straws: 200+ yrs
Plastic Cups: 450+ yrs
Compostable Cups: Hundreds of yrs
Let’s change that together by choosing reuse. Because the only thing scarier is doing nothing.

Japan has introduced eco-friendly grocery bags made from potato starch that completely dissolve in water and pose no threat to marine life. The bags are strong enough to carry groceries, yet fully compostable.

I've never kept one long enough to attempt.
I'm a big fan of the coop compostable bag which can then be used in the food caddy.

EcoEnclose has them - the big thing to remember is that compostable sleeves tend to not be acid-free archival, so aren't good for long-term storage of prints! but will be totally fine for selling at a con

I still get them a lot in my area and some of them still suck so bad
Others are more sturdy compostable and are fine for the most part
The ones that suck really aren't egregious enough to be that type of person online though

Whenever anyone says this just say, "No, more like a domain specific language for compostable lenses and their execution over a dataset."
Which is XPath, but with a tuxedo :)
