To my knowledge they've known about this since the 90s when they were aware the UK was reading signals about NI negotiations. AIUI there were CryptoAG devices in use but obviously once the Iranians discovered Rubikon they were blown. I wonder do we have a real SigINT group in the military at least?

I'll call it a vulnerability from now on, but I wrote supposed backdoor. I can believe that it could have been an intentional backdoor. It would fit with the history of CryptoAG, and it's prudent to treat it like that, but we really only have belief on the balance of probabilities at this point.

The US operated CryptoAG for how long? It's sort of assumed that the US is extremely unlikely to deescalate. So, I think that realistically speaking, there will be a western coalition pushing China to more strongly commit to policing cybercriminals within China as a way to save face.

do you sometimes also think that @ProtonPrivacy and @ThreemaApp could be a honeypot like #CryptoAG and anything they say to refute it will reinforce your feeling?
