The lower gardens of the Castle lead to the foot of a two level terrace which is planted with a large number of palm trees. On the upper terrace the East and North facades with their faux towers and crenelations of the castle dominate the skyline. The blue sky is dotted with white fluffy and wispy clouds.

One of the joys of recent years has been the way heritage sites come with secondhand bookshops: great wherever you are but boy, hats off to the National Trust for Scotland at Culzean Castle, where the secondhand bookshop is about twice the size of the only bookshop we had in my home town growing up.

A magnificent carved stone arch with wrought iron gates marks the entrance to the walled garden. The top of the arch has a plinth with three Greco-Roman style urns. On either side of the arch the brick wall of the garden stretches out of shot.

We had a good time visiting Culzean Castle on the South Ayrshire coast.
It stands on the brink of 150 ft cliffs that drop sheer into the Firth of Clyde.

A fine, cut glass chandelier hanging from a ceiling in Culzean Castle. It has gilded metal fittings and tear drop shaped cut glass 'baubles'. Concealed on the main ring the makes up the chandelier there is a tiny Lego figure wearing red, Elizabethan period clothing. The Lego figurines represent significant people from the history of the Castle, if I remember correctly, this is Mary Queen of Scots

Lovely Monday out on the coast and making some deer frens as well.
Culzean Castle in Ayrshire Scotland taken from a distance and surrounded by a garden wall with palm trees. This is an eighteenth century style castle as was fashionable in Scotland. The architecture is a cross between a neo-medieval and a twist on Scots baronial style. Overlooking the Firth of Clyde along the Ayrshire coast in Scotland. There is a low stone wall that looks like castle battlements and the sky is bright blue with minimal cloud. A female deer (fawn) with brown fur and white spots and a white underbelly standing curiously among green grass and dirt. A small white deer with small horns and its ears positioned curiously in the middle of green grass. A fallen branch is to the left of the deer.

Un château très chic devant une pelouse verte avec la mer dans le fond et un beau ciel bleu. Le château avec le jardin au premier plan et des palmiers qui se font la part belle. Le château d'un autre angle. La vue sur l'océan depuis une terrasse du château.

The road through the arch runs over a zig-zag stone bridge that goes over a steep dip in the ground , it leads to the main entrance to the castle itself.
