It's #DiscoSunday.

“Born To Be Alive” by Patrick Hernandez was the Song of the Summer '79.

The song's repetitive and catchy chorus, with its emphasis on "Born to be alive," made it the Summer track of 1979 and a worldwide hit.

We were born to be alive!

It's #DiscoSunday.

On July 20th, 1975, "The Hustle" by Van McCoy was number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. He wrote the song after his music partner, Charles Kipps, watched patrons do a dance known as "the Hustle" in the nightclub "Adam's Apple."

Today's #DiscoSunday song was originally written for Elvis Presley - sadly he died before he could record it.

"Feels Like I'm in Love" by Kelly Marie was a sleeper hit in Scotland in 1979 then gained ground finally reaching #1 in England and #10 US Dance Chart.

#DiscoSunday Aretha Franklin gave a hell of a performance with Otis Redding's "I Can't Turn You Loose" in 1980. This uptempo song had people on the dance floor turning loose and trying to hold on. Aretha earned a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Vocal Performance.

It's Disco Sunday! The rise of disco music is linked to the underground dance scene that emerged from Soul, Funk & Latin genres. "You and I" by Rick James is a perfect example.

It was a #3 hit on the Disco Charts in August 1978. #discosunday

It’s #DiscoSunday and with the news coming out of MacArthur Park in LA, Donna Summer’s "MacArthur Park Suite" has been on my playlist this week. In 1978, this 18-minute musical suite stayed at #1 for 5 Weeks on the Billboard Dance Chart.

It's #DiscoSunday! "Let's All Chant" by the Michael Zager Band was based on an idea originally suggested by former A&M Records head of A&R Jerry Love after he visited clubs in New York and saw people endlessly chanting "Ooh-ah, Ooh-ah".

The rest is history.
