I hope your DNA isn't programming you to find discomfort in me being a small press/indie writer, who is a small curried potato.

I appreciate everyone who over comes this scary discomfort and reads my work.

(How do I get out of this timeline)

"you'd be mad if the genders were different" yes but it's lesbian so it's fine

"how can you like them they're awful people" lesbians like evil women

but also on a more serious note, the level of discomfort with messy and imperfect characters is concerning

I think people misunderstand that IT IS OKAY if a book makes you UNCOMFORTABLE, sometimes that is the author's intent, but what YOU DO with those feelings as the reader is YOUR responsibility, not an author's, and which is why using that discomfort as a crux to mortality police makes you a dick

alright Together is the best horror movie I've seen in 2025. made me feel physical and psychic discomfort in a deeply satisfying way. it manages to be an intelligent commentary on codependency without being a lecture, or overly serious

George Springer is in the outfield now at Dodger Stadium, running while the #BlueJays training staff watches. He's done some straight-line sprints, now some curved lines.

For any "side discomfort" injury, the rotation of a swing is the real test.

Dealing with a conception of racism that could only exist as a cartoonish caricature because any serious approach to the idea could cause them some personal discomfort.
just circling back on this, ana

in case I need to say it more bluntly:

demanding comfort from fiction and its creators, as if it is a right you are entitled to, is white supremacy

being allergic to discomfort will only stifle you, keep your mind closed, which is what these fascist want from you

Good. I hope their discomfort leads then to an epiphany. Doubtful, but one can always hope.

Worth noting that it's not necessarily a discomfort with male nudity; some dudes treat communal showers as an opportunity to be weird jerks.

There's never going to be any way to truly untangle the bishounen and the abuse that was heaped onto Björn Andrésen in his youth, that discomfort is going to have to persist into eternity.

Mrs Tim's just listened to this and commented on the contrast between Starmer's natural ease and enthusiasm on a programme like this and his often painful discomfort and apparent inauthenticity in political spaces.

I will never understand this weird British obsession with dragging everyone down to their own level of discomfort. God forbid we should aspire to a higher quality of life.
This to me reads like the importance of having a strong union more than anything else.

if you turn away every time you feel discomfort, your world will contract and contract and contract until you are incapable of connecting to others or imagining other ways of existing in the world

It is worse than racist. It is the fascist discomfort in the way the world exists and the desire to reshape it.

In retrospect, the discomfort and anxiety of those three years were well worth it. Would it have still been worth it if I'd never reliably passed? For me, that's... a little complicated.

The mental and emotional benefits from testosterone were clear. I've never felt at all interested in stopping.

“If the Democratic future requires us to exchange our discomfort with casual Nazism to advance a political agenda, I am not interested.” Indeed. Again, I don’t understand why this is so hard! Why would I trust anyone with a TATTOO associated with exterminating people like me to rep my interests?
honestly the only piece worth reading on the platner situation. @tressiemcphd.bsky.social is absolutely cooking here. (gift link)

convinced a bunch of people are primed for AI "relationships" bc they've never been taught to tolerate emotional discomfort or delayed gratification, and that makes them less likely to succeed at emotional connections w/ humans as opposed to "relationships" w/ a machine that never sleeps or says no
