My nearest to a world-we-have-lost memory of the early 60s is my mother teaching me how to pick blackberries on the edge of fields in Dundrum when I was four: the next year the fields were gone to build what I still think of resentfully as 'the new houses'.

Nov 8 and I heard Xmas music in a shop for the first time this year. The culprit was Donnybrook Fair in Dundrum, Dublin where some satanic apparatchik has decided to bludgeon staff and customers alike with this shite for two months.

Over 1,000 taxi drivers are planning to switch off the Uber app from 11am to 5pm today to coincide with the Japan vs Ireland Rugby match in an effort to protest the operator’s introduction of fixed prices
