During the very last bit of context recording at #Durotriges25 we noticed a possible feature

We cleaned the feature

Asha and Megan dug the feature

It contained 4 Iron Age sheep burials

We have now recorded these

We will now stop looking for features and backfill !

Day 4 of packdown at #Durotriges25 and its a blur of context recording, planning, section drawing and photography

The Durotrigian drone is giving us good aerial views of specific areas of the trench

Such as this roundhouse, terraced platform, enclosure ditch, activity area combo 🤩

Of course, what you really want to find, 5 days after an archaeological dig has come to am end, is an Iron Age roundhouse

10m across with a door facing SE, it is gorgeous

Shame we didn’t see it earlier in the excavation 🤣

It's #HillfortsWednesday huzzah!

One of our favourite Iron Age hillforts is just up the road from #Durotriges25

The small but perfectly 2ha bivallate enclosure of Rawlsbury Camp which sits on a chalk spur at the end of Bulbarrow Hill #Dorset 😍

Ruby and Amy have found this sherd of #Roman Samian Ware (terra sigillata) wine cup in a feature at #Durotriges25

The naked *dad bod* torso suggests it could be a depiction of Bacchus (or possibly Hercules?)
July 8, 2025 at 2:04 PM
Asha has spotted a Late Neolithic flint projectile point in the lower fill of the Iron Age pit she's working on with Alison at #Durotriges25

It's a gorgeous find (despite creating some chronological confusion)

In a distant part of #Durotriges25 there is a field that is forever environmental processing
