Lord Edgware Dies
This one reminded me a lot of 'Peril At End House', and I'm not surprised they were written consecutively. Both have an apparent simplicity disguising a devious playfulness. Both undercut the conventions of crime novels to wrong-foot the audience.

#OnThisDay 101 years ago, Burnt Oak station opened on the Northern Line two months after the rest of the Edgware extension. Before opening it was named 'Sheves Hill', and initially it carried the suffix (Watling). Another awesome @tubemapper.bsky.social image: buff.ly/AG1I51S

Yet again the Northern Line has wobbled - time for it to be delinked to removed the cascade disruption
IMHO and what has been suggested before:
- Charing Cross branch only sees Edgware to Battersea
- Bank branch only see - Morden to Mill Hill East / High Barnet

#OnThisDay 22 years ago the rear car of a northbound Northern Line train derailed and struck the tunnel wall at Camden Town. Fortunately being a Sunday morning, only 7 people were injured. The root cause pointed to a flaw in the point switchblade design. buff.ly/L3pAS5S

Isn't Crewe to Rugby "up"? Nice when they give you a clear run. Only happened to me when I had a train with a defect to get me in the depot quickly. Or that time when I was going to be the first to go through heavy snow from Golders Green to Edgware with defective de-icing equipment.

I’m a collector of pictures of waterlogged missing pet fliers. Off Edgware in London. May this cat come back home.

Jazzie B's gold disc for Club Classics Vol 1 was once in a pawn shop on Edgware Road. I used to walk past it on my way to work, 25 years ago. I could have totally afforded it but thought it too frivolous. I regret that hugely to this day.

Splendid study day yesterday at St Lawrence, Edgware - amazing to hear Zadok the Priest on the organ Handel himself would have played.

It's not actually a continuous line any more, is it? It's got a start and end (Hammersmith and Edgware Road). The only benefit now is that wherever you wake up, you can probably get to where you needed to be reasonably quickly.

At last, we can get to see what two decades of neglect have done to the interior of the Grade 2 listed Railway Hotel in Edgware .
Yesterday, I went along to a public presentation by Cavendish Consulting on behalf of the new owners. This is a Hendon Memories image from 1982 and a recent photo.

As far back as 1863 while the railway was under construction, the GNR's rival the Midland gained approval to extend their main line south via Mill Hill to St Pancras, only 7 miles from town compared with 11 via the GNR line. Finchley to Edgware never really recovered.
#OnThisDay 86 years ago the LNER withdrew passenger services to Edgware resulting in closure of Edgware, Mill Hill (the Hale) and Mill Hill East to allow doubling, electrification, and transfer to LPTB. Ultimately only Mill Hill East reopened. Images: buff.ly/7vn7Rvw

London Underground strike.
Northern Line is now running end to end.
Edgware and High Barnet <> Morden and Battersea Power Station via both Charing Cross and City branches.
Gaps between trains of 10 minutes or so, and some stations in central area may be skipped.

151/422 Canon’s Park: Jubilee Line. I was here hours ago. The closest pub was Morano’s, a wine bar but it didn’t open until 4. I walked all the way to Edgware but refused to go back to The Three Wishes, so I came back when Morano’s was open. It’s actually quite nice! Half cider = £3.70 Rating 3/5
