Apparently, I have very strong opinions about the spelling of advisor. Unfortunately, my author prefers "adviser." (I mean, we don't have advisery councils, right?)

What spelling options drive you over the wall? #editorsofwords

Not saying I'm tired but this morning I sat down at my computer and very confidently opened up all the editing documents (manuscript, style sheet, time tracker...) for entirely the wrong book. #AmEditing #FreelanceEditors #EditorsOfWords

Starting a new developmental edit for an author today, which means I get to have one of my favourite type of editing days: manuscript on tablet to read through, notebook, sofa, cat snuggles. What a dream. #AmEditing #FreelanceEditors #EditorsOfWords #EditingCommunity

Endlessly bemused by the contrast between how much of a joy it is to edit other people's stories and how much of an absolute battle it is to edit my own. #AmWriting #WritingCommunity #ShortStories #AmEditing #EditorsOfWords

#Edibuddies: I'm wondering if there is a technical term for the error of a word that is actually a typo? Like is instead of if? Fits instead of first? Or the famous public/pubic? @grammargirl.bsky.social Do you know? #Editorsofwords

Reminder: June 15 deadline for 2nd quarter estimated federal tax payments. It's the same deadline for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

I frequently see people declare that something is "obviously" written by AI. What makes that obvious? What are the hallmarks in the writing? I don't even know what the flags might be. (Other than hallucinated references.) #academicsky #editorsofwords

If an author is keeping the identity of the group they are studying private, can they cite something which includes the name of the entity in the title by obscuring the title? Or must they follow proper citation practice and provide the actual title, with the name in it?

Even though I've been saying it for at least six years, it's well worth repeating: I love TextExpander. I saves me so much, and saves me my sanity. And I love the weekly reports telling me how much time I saved in the previous week. #AmEditing #EditorsOfWords #Editors #FreelanceEditors

(I wish hashtags didn't count as characters!)
I'm currently working on one of the worst bibliographies I have ever encountered, and I find myself wondering at what point authors decided that researching and formatting reference lists was an editor's job?

Trying to figure out how to cite a footnote in a footnote is making me need to go make more coffee. #EditorsofWords #edibuddies
