For writing and simple tasks you could check out inexpensive gaming Laptops as well! I found one with 32gb of RAM for about $900 CAD that I use to operate my printer software & it is a fantastic lil’ machine.
Mine is beefy with the eGPU & RAM upgrade, good for art & complex software yup yup.

On Windows, I gave up diagnosing my random eGPU crashes. Event viewer only gave me driver failures and I was gonna move to Linux later anyways…
On Linux, “lspci” gave me the data I needed to isolate the source of the (physical) signal integrity issue. Now I know what need to fix lol. Thanks Linux

"why did you go with an egpu instead of just building a machine" bc my beelink draws 20w of power and 9w idle, if i have it on 24/7 for build automation like i plan the power consumption difference will pay for itself

4 hour streaming stress test concluded! i've seen enough - i declare the new aqualounge rig stable. turns out that letting windows do what it wants with an egpu and igpu at the same time is a bad idea!

いや、あまり上がってこないは言い過ぎか。短期集中な人とか、溜めて一気にアップな人とか、動画を上げてる方は何名もいますが、定期投稿されてる人となるとニコ動のATS動画は結構限られるんですよねぇ・・・。

it really isnt, just set up an egpu today i opened up an app built into windows called "intel thunderbolt control center", clicked on the device and "connect" and then i installed gpu drivers for my card and it Just Worked

People are running their own instances of #Deepseek on their own servers, on their own #RaspberryPi with eGPU, etc (all of this occurring outside of #China) and we are supposed to believe that this software (which does something more efficiently than the Western owned equivalent) is a security risk.

this however failed horribly on eGPU over Thunderbolt, tho I'd like to give it a try on Thunderbolt 5.

You know.... with all the new (and current) portable gaming PCs that have eGPU support.... I'm not as interested in the Switch 2... seriously.... the anti-emulation, the lack of power, lack of fast storage upgrades... I may just sell my OLED Switch and go all in with the ROG Ally X.
