#Epidendrumporpax
A delightful little beast that (to me) looks like a beetle with long legs, Epidendrum porpax. “Porpax” means “shield” in Latin, a reference to the glossy lip of a small flower. A native of the cloud forests of South America, supposedly fragrant but I’m not catching it. #orchidsky #epidendrumporpax

Epidendrum porpax is an orchid native to Mexico, Venezuela and Bolivia. Based on its bug-like appearance, I suspect it is one of those orchids that tricks an insect into attempting to mate with it and accidentally pollinates it.
