The divorce settlement was finalized January 2024: Carolla agreed to pay an “equalization” payment of about $4 million, along with monthly child and spousal support. Fyi she raised you and your kids. That is fucking work. That is what a fucking equalization payment was for she was stay at home mom
They used to wiretap your phones to collect this kind of information from you but now you pay for a Bluecheck and post it yourself

“he was the one who filed for divorce” 💀

He’s the one who filed for divorce. They had twins together, and he kept most of his assets, including a $13 million car collection.

The money he’s talking about was part of an equalization payment related to the sale of their home.

Was just listening to our Premier on the radio, talking about how #abpoli has received a disproportionate number of newcomers.

What she didn't mention is people in Canada have mobility rights, and one of the reasons for equalization is to reduce movement from have not provinces to have provinces.

Also it is my humble desire that the intro music for the excellent @liberalcurrents.com pods get a little equalization with the voices

It's because you are not more important than the man on the street corner. The coming equalization will sort out the blowhards.

Norway, by the way: “The rise in wealth inequality over the recent four decades is driven by a rise in the wealth share of the top 1 per cent, while equalization among the bottom 99 per cent accounted for 70 percent of the reduction in wealth inequality from the early 1950s to the late 1960s.”

The disease most of us got wasn’t nearly as dangerous as the first version. Shutdown saved many lives and protected many people from long-term illness.
I think the right reacted here as to earlier trends towards political and economic equalization. State capacity must be made unthinkable again.

I wish we had federal oversight, national standards, and equalization of services and costs between provinces. Moving from BC to AB was a stark reminder of how a dysfunctional premier can destroy provincial healthcare.

He really was. I hate that guy with a passion. Albertans loved him for doing absolutely nothing good for them except maybe the new equalization formula they hate.

I started thinking about how to balance the GST figure against the actual need, and quickly ended up with Equalization Payments, from the famous science fiction novel Do Not Invent Equalization Payments

"Veren earns money but I suspect he spends it on silly things, though if it pleases him that is alright. Sometimes he treats me to dinner. I get a decent stipend as an officer on this station due to the local economics and the lack of monetary equalization between systems."

You friend are talking real sense and I'm going to tell you that everyone is going to call you a communist because what you are talking about is Equalization and in America that is not what rich people want because it would mean they would have to be equal to everyone else I support that 100% for US
the government won't be able to tell what the REAL price of food is anymore.

The prices need to stay the same for all so that the full value of food can be spent into the rest of the economy.

You can argue that wages need to go up, or the government needs to provide work, or SNAP should pay higher

Paying more for a product to get better access is more socialist than equalization for service to the state?

Much 2 consider.

BQ: Not my place to give advice about politicking in Quebec. So I dunno, demand no more oil production and also a special equalization levy on AB and SK.

I still like to remind people that it was Stephen Harper who they live to lionize that brought in the current smoothed equalization formula they now love to hate.

We are the highest biweekly median wage in Canada. We did not use to whine about things when we made less money.

I remember back in the day Ontario was getting about 2/3s as much as Alberta in equalization etc.
When Ontario and Quebec were hit hard by the first NAFTA I think that is when the formula was changed.
