So, be aware that there already IS a level above kingdom, which is Domain. There are three domains--Eubacteria, Archaebacteria, and Eukarya. Because the two types of bacteria are more different from each other than animals, plants, fungi and protists are.

Thanks to Carl Woese! In 1977, he introduced the 3rd branch of #treeoflife and concluded that #Archaea are more closely related to us #humans (#Eukarya) than #Bacteria.
We can learn about these bugs in past oceans using #lipids in #sediments.

Isn't it still debatable, two or three domains of life? Eukarya is kind of archaea by origin (?) but still more than sum of the prokaryotic pieces that created them. So why not to have a separate domain just for them?

An argument can be made for the F-plasmid (also called the sex factor or the fertility factor) in bacteria.
