Geometrics Morphometrics Using TPS and R - Livestream starting Oct 26, 2026 (UTC)
Join our online workshop on geometric morphometrics—combining TPS digitization and hands-on R implementation—designed for PhD students, postdocs and researchers who want to strengthen data collection, multivariate inference and reproducibility in morphological studies. Led by Renan Maestri (Dept. of Ecology, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul), the seminar covers landmark and semilandmark protocols, size–shape partitioning, Generalized Procrustes Analysis, thin-plate spline visualization, measurement-error assessment, symmetry/asymmetry decomposition, allometry, and workflows to produce publication-ready figures and reproducible R scripts. Sessions balance geometric and statistical foundations with practical digitization and analysis exercises using real datasets; live seminars stream via Zoom and all recordings, code, slides and data are available for 30 days after the course (with an expert‑monitored Q&A forum); on‑demand access follows the same 30‑day availability. Participants receive an Instats certificate on completion (ECTS equivalent indicated for European students where shown). Register or learn more today to add a coherent, publication-ready morphometric toolkit to your research. #Biology #Biostatistics #ComputationalBiology #Ecology #EvolutionaryBiology #LifeSciences #Morphology #QuantitativeMethods #Statistics #Bioinformatics #R #RStudio #TPS #Research #ResearchTraining #Instats

Macroecology Using R - Livestream starting Jan 12, 2026 (UTC)
Join Dr Renan Maestri (Dept. of Ecology, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul) for a five-day, hands-on macroecology workshop that blends theory with reproducible R/RStudio workflows to turn large geographic and phylogenetic datasets into publication-quality maps, metrics, and testable hypotheses. Designed for PhD students, postdocs, faculty and researchers in biology, ecology, evolution, biostatistics, geography and related fields, the course covers manipulation of large spatial databases, grid-mapping of species, trait and phylogenetic diversity, assemblage- and tip-based metrics, partitioning trait variation, spatial phylogenetic metrics (PD, MPD, DR), mapping diversification and historical dispersal, biogeographic regionalization with evolutionary information, integrating environmental predictors, and practical use of Herodotools and other R packages—emphasizing uncertainty handling, reproducible script organization, and hands-on troubleshooting of participants’ own data. Live sessions combine short lectures with guided coding (basic–intermediate R assumed); sessions are livestreamed via Zoom, all recordings and materials are available for 30 days after the seminar, and participants receive an Instats certificate of completion (ECTS-equivalent noted where applicable). Visit instats.org for details and registration. #Biology #Biostatistics #Ecology #EvolutionaryBiology #Geography #DataScience #Bioinformatics #R #RStudio #Research #ResearchTraining #Instats

Finally, melatonin acts as a universal "night shift" manager.

It promotes sleep & DNA repair in both species, but at opposite times (day for the jellyfish, night for the anemone). 🌗

The link between molecular health & sleep is ancient; only the timing adapts to the niche. 🧬
