Also, water is not a finite resource. There's a whole, you know, cycle.
I really don’t find these arguments persuasive. Take this, for example, from one of the sources: this is another way of saying ‘as much water as it takes for the beef that two people consume annually’. That’s a relatively trivial amount!

you can have so much cheap energy that the sensible thing is to give some of it away for free, or you can expensively mine the planet for finite resources and pretend the future will never come to america

And of love
This is what our country does to love
To people on their finite time on earth it takes the love that binds us

Something I'm more broadly concerned about is charity fatigue. The asks being made of all of us by nonprofits are not going to decrease as time goes. People are being hit from all sides and both money and time for most people are finite.

We have a finite amount of time on earth to be with our friends and loved ones and I can't imagine the pitch black soul one must have to find delight in spending even one moment of their lives like this. Such a waste of skin and bones, since there's clearly no heart or brain in that big bag of crap

It's zero-sum. Power is a finite resource that everyone is grasping for, so if you let anyone else have any then more fool you. There is no level of powerlessness they will accept, and they believe the rest of us (secretly) operate on the same principle.

I’ve gotten shit for this from Astros fans on Twitter before, but my grandmother died in 2019. She was a huge Dodgers fan. Time is finite, and winning recently doesn’t give her a championship to root for.
Love how these people see sports as transactional. Like "your team has won recently, so don't complain".
But if you care about the players/moments and not laundry, then you never get that 2017 team or those moments back. No shit people care, just like you're whining now over the Blue Jays gagging.
