#Freedomofspeech doesn't mean freedom from consequences. Ryan Thames tried to bully a dedicated educator simply because she supported #freadom. What he didn't expect was for her to fight back. #truth #supportlibrarians @librarianjones.com @uabookbans.bsky.social @ncacensorship.bsky.social

We’re honored to have received the 2025 Hot Springs Matt DeCample Audience Choice Award for Best Feature. Audience awards are particularly prestigious to us. Bringing together communities for conversations is paramount to the #FReadom to Read movement, & we’re thrilled our heroes' stories resonate!

It was my great pleasure & honor to act as a CYBILS judge this year, in the Board Books and Picture Books categories. Happy to find The CYBILS very inclusive & intentional about lifting up historically under-represented stories. #kidlit #kidlitart #cybils2024 #booksky

Agree 💯

The Fl Attorney General’s Office has itself argued before the courts that limits on classroom curriculum may not apply “in the very different setting of a school library.”

Using a USA map as a scorecard - kids color in the state where their book is set. Prizes! Also inviting a bunch of folks to read aloud to classes. Using photo frame with hashtags #Read and #FREADom (our theme) to highlight school folks for social media.

One of the most important moments of my career came when my students were shocked to learn that Jason Reynolds is a Black man and an author. Long Way Down was the first book my TX students read by a Black man in school.

They're 16.
