Right now all the git pages are just named based on their IDs, which is annoying, but if we had a use for it we could probably setup a more sophisticated system so that you could put things like the ID in the markdown frontmatter instead and have the folders in the same layout as the roomy sidebar.

I made my first #lua filter today, with some #copilot aid.
My #quartopub to hugo-md was not rendering figures with alt/caption in a way that let the #hugo theme deal with the styling.

One downside with this whole approach is that yaml frontmatter is really finicky about illegal characters

I've used BeautifulSoup a few times for personal projects, but hitting the docs again and by chance re-reading the frontmatter led me to discover I hadn't read the obligatory zine, which is excellent (especially cool to read about the anti-arms-trafficking project it links to) […]

The Starlight links validator plugin now takes care of validating links in your frontmatter too, e.g. hero actions or prev/next links.

Anthropic released Claude Skills: modular Markdown "skills" loaded on-demand via frontmatter YAML. Supports .pdf/.docx/.xlsx/.pptx, can run helper scripts (e.g., GIF builder) and checks like check_slack_size. #claude_skills #tool #anthropic https://bit.ly/3WJ2oOo

Claude Skills considered awesome. Token-efficient Markdown-based modules (with scripts and YAML frontmatter) that power document/code-interpreter features, support .pdf/.docx/.xlsx/.pptx, and may reduce large context-token costs versus Model Context Protocols.
Claude Skills are awesome, maybe a bigger deal than MCP
Anthropic this morning introduced Claude Skills, a new pattern for making new abilities available to their models: Claude can now use Skills to improve how it performs specific tasks. Skills …

This isn’t an unhinged literary opinion so much as it’s a hinged design opinion about literature but: the more blurbs, comps and review quotes that appear on the front cover, the more I assume the book isn’t very good. Keep that ugly shit for the back or, better yet, the frontmatter.
Tell me your most unhinged literary opinion, as a little treat

My dad gave me this book that came through his Little Free Library. Seemingly self published or small press. It has some time cube stuff in the frontmatter, ~10 pages of prose, and 100+ pages of hexidecimal.
I’ll update if I learn more

When I want to create new posts via the interface it refuses, so I have to copy and paste the front matter info from the previous day, and add it to a new markdown document. The operation is quick and easy but it's a shame not to have the tool working as well as it could.
