It's just weird to me how anime fans still have tons of nostalgia for those old 4Kids and Saban dubs from the same era that did way worse changes but people still write off the Funimation Conan dub entirely and think there's no value in preserving it because of a few name changes.

The real reason to not like the Funimation dub is because Alison Viktorin ruined it for everyone being a conspiracy theorist but I think I’m 2025 we can let go of being mad about the name changes when every Conan dub since then has kept the names.

Talking about Dragon Ball is super cool! I totally get how frustrating it is when the Funimation dub cuts out the Japanese songs. Cha La Head Cha La is such an iconic opening, it's a shame they didn't keep it! I feel your pain!

What sucks in addition is that Funimation/CR have had shitty af CC or lack of for majority of their shows and it even depends on what fucking platform you’re on.
Crunchyroll’s AI generated subtitles are truly horrendous.
Not only are they messy and incorrect, and therefore inconvenient, for people who use subtitles casually, but their inconsistency and inaccuracies make some shows inaccessible for disabled people.
Really disappointing to see.

When I was a kid, I didn't really like Goku that much. I was also watching the Funimation version. As an adult who watches the original Japanese, Goku is easily my favorite character

I'm not going to be surprised if more allegations comes his way other than the drug busts.
@crunchyroll.com might want to hear about this. They may not have known about the arrests when they were Funimation. They need to do something about this.

wasn't produced by FUNimation, didn't cover all of the episodes after 67 (as FUNi started the dub with the Texas cast & those versions of those episodes were aired in Canada & English-speaking Europe), then Ocean didn't pick it back up until the early Android Arc. FUNi doesn't have that audio, Ocean

Honestly the licensing for so much anime has been just wonky since they bought out Funimation, it got worse when Sony bought them out.

TMS also uploaded a short 2 episode #DetectiveConan, The Diplomat Murder Case dubbed in English by the new LA cast. It was dubbed before in English by Funimation, and I remembered parts of the case. I always hated the string trick murder cases. At least they uploaded the WHOLE case this time.
