When I attended my first furry event, the SoCal FurBQ, it was about 150 people; Califur was about 1,300; Further Confusion was in the top five at about 3,500.

I had only just met Mark briefly at the last SoCal FurBQ, but I could see how core to our community he was.

I attended a couple meets while in SoCal about 10 years back. The monthly meets were kind of awkward, with about 10 people at a strip mall, but the FurBQ was pretty good (100-150 in a park, annual), and one person had monthly house parties (25-30).

This is the first major event in this state FurBQ was used as a scapegoat by that town's government as a way to get rid of their volunteer ambulance corps. It is so very difficult to participate in this community here and honestly I think this is a wake up call to the rest of us.
