Have never seen more luxuriant beds of Watercress (Nasturtium officinale) than in the Gaywood River by Derby Fen.
Also a little Fool's Watercress (Helosciadium nodiflorum).

The Gaywood River on a sunny summer day is sheer heaven, banks clothed in frothy Hemp Agrimony, Great Willowherb, Bittersweet etc - with a pretty glass jar amongst the jetsam on the flinty gravels.

There is such exhilaration in swimming through the clear waters of an energetically flowing chalk stream up over beds of glistening Starwort (Calitriche) which create waterscapes somehow reminiscent of coral reefs.
