Gothic Revival architecture for New Town Hall in Munich, Germany. The Glockenspiel’s life sized figurines spin and dance to 16th century melodies.

St Peter Cathedral in Regensburg. Started in 1280 completed in 1520 (you thought modern highway construction was slow 😉🤪). Scaffolding for renovations is continuous except in 2006 when
Pope Benedict visited & it was removed.

Rothenburg ob der Tauber, a German town in northern Bavaria known for its medieval architecture. Half-timbered houses line the cobblestone lanes of its old town. Jakob’s Church houses an intricate, late Gothic altarpiece.

The spectacular scissor arches of Wells Cathedral certainly qualify for #GothicWednesday and I'm cheekily going to claim #WellsWednesday, too. It was the first English cathedral to be built entirely in the Gothic style, meaning there's no #NormanWednesday in there.

How did I do!? 🤣

When St Mary's Cathedral was built in 1814 in Edinburgh, it was merely a rectangular building with a shallow apse masked by a perpendicular Gothic facade. Today it is truly a magnificent piece of architecture, religious or no ⛪

#GothicWednesday the spectacular High Gothic Cathédrale Notre-Dame d'Amiens. The largest in France, twice the size of the Notre Dame in Paris, and built between 1220 and 1270. #AmiensCathedral #UNESCOWorldHeritage

My photos 📸 from The Jerónimos Monastery in Portugal. It is an example of late Portuguese Gothic Manueline style of architecture. It was erected in the early 1500s near the launch point of Vasco da Gama's first journey, whose remains are now interred here.
