The Alstom metro trains used in Sydney look weird with the anticlimber buffers at the front. HCMTs are much nicer looking.
Apparently the HCMT is based on a Chinese metro train platform, and the acceleration sound is almost the same as that of a lot of units there.

Had a great time riding the Munnel in full but the highlight of today’s gunzelling was timing my change of direction at Malvern perfectly with the passage of the Long Island steel train

I can confirm there is a Munnel under Melbourne: I went for my first trip today, and not even as a gunzel joyride but for its intended purpose of getting quickly from one place to another (in my case, from the Public Record Office to the State Library)

She's still *near* the metro tunnel and can quite clearly hear the HCMT distinct motor sound 😀.. real talk, quite easy to jump on train 1 station to change in footscray..

For the first journey we were on HCMT set 25 in the middle carriage, 9325 (you can just make out the carriage marking 9025 on the control cab in the second photo in the previous post). We ended up travelling on six different sets to get to Anzac and back to Footscray.

Town Hall station was as beautiful as the previews made it out to be. I still have a hard time accepting a dark signal as "proceed on in-cab indications" though the rationale makes sense.

I also got a happy snap of a Comeng running a SUY line service. Once February comes around the SUY will be 100% HCMT, and once the western portal junction is gone the non-HCMT fleet won't even be able to get over this side of town.

Youd think that if you have three live music events happening in the city that PTV would at least schedule extra trains but no. Crush capacity HCMT on a Tuesday night. Oh well. Maybe we have to wait till February for the new timetable to fix this.

Full line through Metro Tunnel testing with passengers (except through the tunnel section) on Saturday 21st of June. I guess it'll be a sneak peek of a 100% HCMT Sunbury line. Certainly not one to miss.
