I've launched this petition calling for wealth taxes, not disability support cuts.

I'll present this in Parliament ahead of any vote on these cruel cuts - as part of the campaign we need to get as many MPs as possible to vote down these cuts.

Labour MP Rachael Maskell close to tears as she 'pleads' with the government to abandon planned welfare cuts

'These Dickensian cuts belong to a different era and a different party', she said

How on earth has it come to this?

Unless you are long term sick or disabled, then you will be absolutely buggered and made a hell of a lot worse off!

I’ve signed the amendment to stop the Disability Benefit Cuts Bill.

Our Labour Government should be reducing poverty and supporting disabled people—not driving them to homelessness and foodbanks.

It’s time to withdraw the cuts.

I have joined over 100 Labour MPs in signing an amendment which would stop the vote on disability benefit cuts next week.

I agree we need to reform our welfare system, but I cannot overlook that this Bill is estimated to put even more households into poverty.

"Vulnerable people need more support, not less"

YES, THIS 👇 👇 👇

Why does Starmer, Reeves & Kendall not want to understand that?

The fact that so many Labour MPs appear unable to back their own Government’s plan shows just how painful these cuts are expected to be for people across the UK.

Vulnerable people need more support, not less.

The Government must change course on these flawed proposals before it’s too late.

After reading the Health Equity North report that shows the North East will be disproportionately hit by the proposed cuts and reforms to PIP - I had to add my name to this letter to show support for my constituents, and disabled people across the country.

The country desperately needs #Labour to lift as many people & families as possible out of #Poverty

Getting people into good jobs is only a small part of the solution, first they need to lift people up, not threaten them with cuts.

Today the Welfare Reforms Bill was laid before the House of Commons. Within its 16 pages I'm struggling to find the reassurances I need for my disabled constituents in receipt of PIP. I didn't come to Parliament to make people worse off so I will be voting against these proposals.

I’ve been vocal in my support for the millions of disabled & ill people who’ll be impacted by social security cuts.

Many have told me this feels like a betrayal from a Government they expected to stand up for the most vulnerable.

I hear you all - I will not vote for these proposals as they stand!

Our CEO @pimlicat.bsky.social on why the UK's disability benefits system PIP is deeply flawed.

"It will ask a question like, 'can you walk 200 metres?' Maybe you can if you have MS, but what you can't then do is get out of bed for two days. So you score zero on the PIP form."

Today MPs will vote on the amended welfare bill.

MPs who choose to walk through the lobby and support this bill are paving the way for at least 150,000 people to be pulled into poverty.

Here are just 3 reasons why they should oppose this bill from @katieschmuecker.bsky.social 🔽

For every 238 people on incapacity benefits in London, there is just 1 disability confident role.

Removing vital support from disabled people will not help them into work, it will only force many deeper into poverty with no way out.

A Labour MP who signed the reasoned amendment said ministers were using "flattery and begging" to dissuade them from rebelling on welfare cuts

"Oh but you're so sensible and reasonable, why would you do this, why not vote it through next week and try and win the arguments... at committee stage?"

I've joined over 100 MPs to sign an amendment which, if passed, would halt the Government's planned social security cuts. The Government’s own initial impact assessment estimates these changes would push 250,000 people into poverty, including 50,000 children. So they must pause and rethink.
