#Hardspace
When I went to work on Hardspace, I had just gotten out of a really bad pair of abusive situations.

@ekhudson.bsky.social treated me like a human being. I had never been treated with such kindness before.
To celebrate the return of @ekhudson.bsky.social , former director of Hardspace: Shipbreaker, in this sci-fi universe, I have improved and corrected the article I wrote about his work.

(Patreon recently had an interesting update, but it removed many links and changed the layout.)

Grateful to say: I've returned to Blackbird Interactive for the next step of Hardspace!

Shipbreaker is about the place of labor in our society. I think it's important to make media that examine that, and possibly imagines a better future.

Plus, blowing stuff up might be cathartic for all of us....

oh this is fantastic news! not 100% thrilled about blackbird given how homeworld turned out but hardspace should be an easier beast to manage. i loved the game and def wish it had been longer/bigger

But, it would be something like

- Horizon Zero Dawn
- Ascendancy
- Day of the Tentacle
- Battlefield 1
- Ghost of Tsushima
- Assassin's Creed: Revelations
- Watch Dogs 2
- Strange Brigade
- Monster Hunter: World
- Hardspace: Shipbreaker

Hm, maybe I should be worried.

This sounds incredible. "The Smoke Room" but with space truckers. "The Salt and the Wound" meets "Hardspace: Shipbreaker."

Those probably aren't comparisons that makes sense to anyone but me, but this just shot to the top of my "when I can afford books again" list.

Finally broke out the hardspace shipbreakers collectors edition albums I got ages ago when it released.
got a record player. might become an audio snob, just for kicks.

Hardspace Shipbreaker music is so good for work noise, but there's something unsettling about using "work until you die in this fake capitalist hellscape" music for "work until you die in this real capitalist hellscape" situations

im finding Hardspace Shipbreaker to have very just one more ship energy, its really fun but damn i need to go to bed |3

we need to discuss the "cozy" label some of you are putting on each and every game. hardspace shipbreaker is cozy? crime scene cleaner is cozy? just because you, the player, are wrapped in a big blanket and sipping cocoa doesn't mean the game you're playing is cozy!!! I will die on this hill!!!!

This was most of the goddamn plot to Hardspace: Shipbreaker.
California just banned employers from forcing workers to pay a debt, fee, or penalty to leave their job.

Bosses have increasingly been trapping workers with debts incurred in training and other exploitative fees.

Now that's illegal in the nation's biggest state.

Hello #portfolioday I design digital #LEGO builds including original mecha and spaceships for Morningstar, a tabletop game setting, as well as pop culture characters and more. I try to make small, affordable stuff you can build yourself. Most of my older work is here www.flickr.com/photos/19487...

Learn more about Ubisoft's abandoned sci-fi game called Pioneer in our new MinnMax Interview.

The game (teased in Watch Dogs 2) was going to be a bit like Hardspace: Shipbreaker, Deep Rock Galactic, and No Man's Sky. youtu.be/aMl5fUlDxEU

Steam sale treats Rick told me to get for our anniversary. I honestly thought about Silent Hill f, but I figured I'd rather spread that cost around some other titles instead

Issue is that artistic strength generally comes from the story for most. As it's the easiest to recognize.

personally I would say that titles like Hardspace: Shipbreaker, Satisfactory, or Book of Hours are all artistic.

And only one is heavily "narrative focused" because its mostly reading.
(honest question) what are the “good” video games? artistically i mean, not in a “i enjoyed this escapist slop” kind of way
Well. It's not Red Dead Redemption 2, but it's like one of three video games I'd genuinely consider good.

Yume Nikki
Disco Elysium
Sable
Dishonored
Riven (the sequel to Myst)
Hardspace Shipbreaker
Hollow Knight
Silksong
Deus Ex 1 (for its political philosophy explorations)
Undertale
Alpha Centauri

all of the above are pretty obviously art if you actually give them the time of day

God I'm going to sound so pretentious right now:

1. Hardspace: Shipbreakers was quite good
2. Dwarf Fortress (as an experimental piece)
3. Frostpunk
4. Helldivers 2 (controversial take maybe)
5. Detroit
6. Basically anything Christine Love has made

I could go on, with varying degrees of merit.

The nice thing about wrecking your giant waste of time vehicle in Space Engineers, is that afterward you get to play Hardspace: Shipbreaker.

A complaint I often hear is that it's too annoying to hand build/scrap large parts. To that I say, you're not thinking like a Space Engineer!

Heyo, friends! Here's this week's streaming schedule!

On Thursday, prepare for some potentially cheesy side-scrolling beat-em-up silliness with Streets of Fury EX.

Saturday, I'll be cutting apart spaceships and turning them into scrap in Hardspace: Shipbreaker.

Hope to see you then! 🤎

I’m really enjoying Pacific Drive. It’s tickling the same thing in my brain that Hardspace Shipbreaker does.

But with all the fun spooky that Alan Wake has too.

Can’t deny the radio is an absolute jam too. Great selection of tracks.
