Physician performing #uroscopy from the manuscript Theoria Medicinae Naturalis dating from c.1630. It's attributed to Conrad Goltzing. But who was Goltzing? We know very little about the book, its author or how it came to be in our collection 🤔

Even though it might be easy to focus on Hill Hassall's mistakes regarding the cause of cholera, we choose to celebrate his essential contribution to the field of histology, as well as public health, which would not have been possible without the microscope.
