I dreamt that I was writing case studies about people that had been plunged into poverty and homelessness. I’m a freelancer but I have lots of experience of this. I still think that I have a lot to contribute.

Another Day in Paradise by Phil Collins is ironic because not only does the 'paradise' he describes have homelessness in it, it also has the song Another Day in Paradise by Phil Collins.

Most elderly people are RETIRED and most young people have to work.
I’m not throwing shade on the elderly. They earned their retirement! —but I’m not judging young people either. Most of us are one missed workday away from losing our jobs and one missed paycheck away from homelessness.

As expected the far-right propagandist from Scappoose is weighing in on Portland, hoping Trump will do a military take-over (coup) of our local government. She often reposts Angela Todd and says we're overridden with crime and chaos. What an asshole.

We are next. He made me a criminal for being homeless. Kilmeade of Fox News wants to give me a lethal injection due to my homelessness. Now, I will have to deal with National Guard troops deployed on the same streets I call home. WTF? I'm a disable senior waiting for housing. Seriously, WTF!
Trump promises to deploy troops to SF: 'We're going to go to San Francisco'
Trump went as far as implying he may invoke the Insurrection Act if needed.

Another well written piece by Mel, (@artistaffame.bsky.social) a fierce poverty activist. This is a tragedy that was entirely preventable but... capitalism.
Vale David, may you rest in peace.
All he needed was a home for him and his pets.

Please help this mother and her children in any way you possibly can. They are in a very difficult spot, and she needs to take care of them while having to deal with her own disability. Help them escape homelessness by donating however much you can, every amount counts!
A disabled mom of 2 facing eviction is pleading for help. She’s raising enough to keep a roof over her children’s heads and bills this month while looking for employment, if we each give $1 we can reach the goal. We’ve helped 160 people so far, let’s keep going.

My full-time job is being a case manager for a non-profit organization that works with women and children coming from homelessness, substance abuse, and incarceration. It’s both a stressful and rewarding job; so I would love a part time job that’s a bit more tame. Crossing my fingers for something 🤞🏿

Update: My MAGA GOP Republican adult children went home.
Both said: Mom, when will you wake up? All YOU learned in school, college, business, & life was a lie.
Trump’s remaking government—Small, White, Christian— to end gays & red states don’t have homelessness.
My kids are Trump-cult members 😢

"For employees who might experience homelessness, Provalus offices have showers and laundry rooms. The company has occasionally put workers up in hotels while connecting them with public housing. There are “community closets” in every location to help employees put together a professional wardrobe."
These Jobs Often Go Overseas. One Company Is Bringing Them to Rural America.
Instead of offshoring, Provalus looks for small towns where incomes are low and people are eager for positions that will teach them 21st-century skills.

OANN Pledges Revival in San Francisco.
President Considers Action to Revitalize San Francisco San Francisco, once a shining example of American ingenuity and prosperity, has fallen on hard times. Concerns about crime, homelessness, and a decline in the quality of life have prompted calls for action. The city, now plagued by visible signs of decay, has become a symbol of what some see as the failures of progressive policies.

Genuinely stop and consider what people who are trans who either are, or have been, homeless or who are living at risk of homelessness think when you show support or even admiration for the guy who is AT BEST apathetic to trans lives, and actively hostile to homeless ones.

I hear you. The central point of the story is that the narrative conveniently shifts to keep owner profit up and taxes down. There is some positive movement for median earners due to high vacancy rates, but not nearly the kind of response you’d see if you wanted to resolve homelessness and poverty.

I'm also a bit suspicious of Ibsen, for the same reason--real estate is just such an anti-people-of-Tacoma business these days. But on the other hand, Ibsen's take on issues like public safety and homelessness are more clearly progressive, while Hines seems more focused on trash and potholes

What I think is fucked up is that the Conservatives diss universal income and universal healthcare and then complain when homelessness is on the rise despite them implying that homelessness is a valid punishment for not working hard enough.

Tiny home villages seem like such an obvious solution to so many of the problems with homelessness, even more so if there are trained "camp hosts" who can help or provide further resources.
It boggles my mind that people are against this concept.
