The lack of U.S. commitment to defending the SDF foothold in the country has embittered many former allies who fought with the U.S.-led coalition against ISIS. "The international coalition betrayed us. We were retreating from the Arab majority regions to not have a big war between Arab and Kurdish people, but now they will see our real war," Mahir Bakirciyan, a former SDF field commander who took part in the anti-ISIS war, told Drop Site. Akkurt further speculated that ongoing talks in Paris mediated by the U.S. between Syria, Israel, and Turkey just days before the outbreak of fighting in Aleppo had also resulted in a green light for Syrian attacks on SDF positions in the country. "We cannot separate the meeting in Damascus and the meeting held in Paris between Israel, the US, Syria, and Turkey from the Aleppo attack," he said.

There is no cleansing of anywhere. The only ones I am seeing cleansed are Druze, Christians and Kurds in Syria and other places.

Those are the ones people need to wake up about. Regardless of there not being Israel or Jews involved in doing it.

We have helped Israel prevail over those who would destroy her: Egypt, Syria, Iraq, Iran, and their proxies. I support that, but it's time to withhold support from Israel unless she ceases encroachments on Palestinian territory and forswears any intention to annex or control the West Bank or Gaza.

What you state as "an incontrovertible fact" can be easily debunked my new lawyer friend. Also, related to Israel, it is impossible to assert one knows what impact on election alternative approaches might have had on election outcome in 2024.
President Joe Biden — in whose administration we both served in senior national security positions for four years — was not willing to do so for a range of reasons. The most defensible of which was that Israel faced genuine military threats from not just Hamas but Hezbollah, Iran, Shia militia groups in Iraq and Syria, and the Houthis in Yemen, and he was not prepared to weaken Israel's defenses in face of those threats — or to risk making attacks more likely by doing so. In May 2024, Biden did halt the shipment of 2,000-pound bombs to Israel to prevent their use in densely populated Gaza, and he warned Israel that he would withhold additional offensive weapons if Israel conducted a major ground operation in Rafah when large numbers of civilians were there. But he ultimately never did so, in part because of concern that it would leave Israel excessively vulnerable to external threats.
