It is with great sadness that I have learned that a well-known Victim & Survivor of Ireland's scandalous Institutions has died. I have written a short statement which you can see below

It’s now 167 days since I met reps from Irish Govt abt the #NCRR & #NonRecurrence -their idea! Still no contact; no plan on implementation - this is important!

What has the state done to remember these boys? Where is their public list of the #ForgottenDead from the #Institutions?

For 80 years from 1871 to 1951, St. Joseph's Industrial School in Artane, Dublin, had at least 222 deaths of boys aged 7-16 years.

Those names have not been made public up to this point. That changes now. You can view the names that Project Infant found here: projectinfant.ie/the-homes/ar...

Sharing something I've wanted to do for a while!

'The Institutions', a means for people wanting to get news about Ireland's institutions (mother and baby homes, industrial schools and Magdalene Laundries) all in one place.

I hope to...

This article by @kittyholland.bsky.social is factually incorrect.
It’s untrue to state ‘these are the plans, take it or leave it’.
Voicing only the views of a woman who publicly stated ‘adoptees are not survivors’ is offensive.

distracted from the many failings of the #RedressScheme, memorialisation should be the final cog of the wheel to be put in place & should not distract those who are meant to fight to have all terms of the scheme adhered to 1st. The failings apply to both #MotherandBabyHomes & #IndustrialSchools

#ProgrammeForGovernment is 162 pages.
There is only 1 tiny paragraph referencing #MotherandBabyHomes & a small section on #IndustrialSchools
This is insulting for #Survivors
No commitment to changing #RedressScheme
No mention of #Justice for those who are excluded due to the 6 month rule.

I attended the ‘National Centre for Research & Remembrance’ Engagement event today in Cork.
The aim is to establish a national memorial & site of conscience to honour equally ALL who were resident in Irish institutions.

What gets overlooked is the understanding that the combined experiences of #MotherAndBaby Homes, #IndustrialSchools, #MagdaleneLaundries, #BoardedOut and #CountyHomeInstitutions, and such, is that this was, and remains, the most immense and unresolved violation of #HumanRights in the Irish State.
