I kid you not, EVERY time there'd be an Irix update, we'd have to figure out wtf they screwed up that will let whoever get root access or be able to execute root commands outside of root. And they'd sell these units to clients without fixing issues.

The O2, an entry level Unix workstation, was introduced in the mid 90s and came with a single MIPS CPU. Here, we see some baby Octanes, haha! It officially ran on IRIX UNix OS but also supported the Linux and BSD families of operating systems en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SGI_O2

this was a tool i wrote around the same time with an in-house built GUI. the look & feel of the windows are from SGI IRIX motif style a la jurassic park, and the "pi" symbol on the lower right was directly from sandra bullock's the net. clicking on it with a key combo would trigger an easter egg. :)
