Jacob can eat basically anything. Living off of garlean rations or getting by with even less when they didn’t receive supplies for weeks made him appreciate any kind of food. He abhors wasting food.

Although Jacob’s dad is dead, he remembers him fondly. Gael was his first mentor and Jacob sometimes reminisces about their training sessions.
Eleyn was separated from her father at a young age and just recently found out that he’s alive. They have a lot of catching up to do.

Jacobs father, Gael Ragnarson, comes from a tribe in Ilsabard. He and his tribe had fled to Ala Mhigo to escape the empires expansion. Gael joined the ala mhigan army, worked his way up to become a member of the royal guard and met Jacobs mother, Nedana Navarre, an ala mhigan combat medic

Born in Gyr Abania, Jacob was a garlean conscript whose unit got decimated by Meffrids resistance unit. He was the only survivor, was taken prisoner and later joined the resistance himself.
The whole resistance unit fled to the Black Shroud as the empire tightened it’s control over the area

Jacob’s fluent in common eorzean and garlean. If there’s an official language apart from common in Gyr Abania that would be his mother tongue (going for a mix of turkish/arabic in his village).

It just feels like the right thing to do for him.
For the majority of his adult life he was never in control of his own fate. Forced to fight in wars he didn’t want to.
Now that he has his freedom, he wants to make up for everything by using his powers and fight for those who cannot.
