I don't want to speak to your experience, but I was an early adopter of GraphQL - and I avoid Apollo like the plague. It takes something intrinsically simple, and makes it super complex. It's the JavaEE of APIs, with all the smells.

In my last project I used graphql-request, would recommend.

Javaのココがダメ
1. ある程度の規模になるとGCのコストが重くなってくる。つらい
2. 「どこでも動く」と言いながらだいたい少し凝った事をするとネイティブコードに依存するので動かない
3. そのネイティブと相互運用する際のオーバーヘッドが大きい
4. オブジェクト指向と言いながらプリミティブ型とかいうのが存在する
5. JavaFXとJavaAppletは無かった事にされた
6. Swingも微妙で実際に使われるのはJavaEEばっかり
