#Jetpac
35 years ago, I was enjoying playing Solar Jetman. This ace Rare-produced NES game continued the adventures of Jetman, star of Jetpac and Lunar Jetman, which had been published by Ultimate a few years earlier. Super-fun, but being a Rare game, ROCK FREAKIN' HARD of course!

Yep, good old spectrum 48k with its rubber keys. Atic Atac is a classic! Ultimate made some good games, Sabre wulf, Underwurlde, Jetpac etc as well as Atic Atac.

I see Pyjamarama, Jetpac, Dizzy and Chuckie Egg, what else?
An animated loop basd on the games of the ZX Spectrum 8 bit micro from the 1980s

This was made in photoshop and Blender and just a fun little tribute to my all time favourite home computer

It's fine for simple games. I've done recreations of Jetpac and Chuckie Egg in it. Most of the issues we face are weaning kids off drag-and-drop coding. The next level up seems to be Python. That's a heck of a leap, even with helper libraries like Pygame.

Jetpac was one of the all-time great games for the Spectrum! The second paragraph though is an incredible evocation of the complete player experience in the '80s: "The tape loaded successfully first time and while the game was loading an impressive title screen was displayed."

Oh Jetpac. I actually played a ton of it in DK64

I always wished they'd release Rare Replay on PC; it's such a sweet compilation.

I don't think I played any of their games at the time, but yeah, their games have become a staple of my Speccy emuing in recent years, especially Jetpac.

Got something brewing on the speccy hardware side now. 👀

Next upcoming RetroSpectives video will be about Jetpac (ZX Spectrum, 1983) and our earliest memories of the first ever computer & video games we played at home. I'm after your comments to feature in the video, so if you have fond memories of your first home gaming experiences, leave a reply. 🚀👩‍🚀🕹️

Feb 9:

Jetpac (1983)

How did a Mexican born in the 90s know about a ZX Spectrum classic? Well, it was generously included within Donkey Kong 64.

One of the Stamper Bros.’s earliest creations is as simple as it is addictive, survive a constant spray of hazards and get a high score!

That's my early teen years right there! PiMania! JetPac, Dragontorc of Avalon, Halls of the Things, Skool Daze! 🙂

I remember playing this until levels looped around to level 1. It was the first ZX Spectrum game I ever played. And now I work at Rare! 🙂

My first four games that arrived that Christmas: Jetpac, Trans-Am, Cookie & Psssst.

You might have said it was destiny to end up there!
Best 16K game ever 🚀
