Apparently it's not usually enforced but this fourth official is being a bit of a jobsworth, according to the radio!

You shouldn’t let your disability hold you back or define you! Disabled sportspeople are SO inspiring! Unless you need benefits to live in which case you must remain indoors and look miserable or else some lickspittle bootlicking jobsworth will cut you off.

Jobsworth (Park Theatre) review – a sizzling, funny, emotive and urgent exploration of our broken economy
Everyone will see a part of themselves or their lived experience in the characters and story Rodliffe and Lynn have so diligently crafted in Jobsworth, now playing at the Park Theatre. ★★★★★ According to the Joseph Rowntree Foundation's 2024 report 'Changing the narrative on wealth inequality', wealth inequality in the United Kingdom is high and it's continuing to rise.

I guess some jobsworth is unfamiliar with this children’s classic and misunderstood the sense of “Hellebore”, putting 2+2 together and getting 666

The fictitious enthusiasm for someone is going to be overwhelming. It may as well be for the epitome of the 21st century Southern briefcase jobsworth gobshite.
Genuine idiot panicking, or just more playacting bullshit intended to culminate in the leader’s office conceding to a wave of fictitious enthusiasm for coronation of PM Wes unopposed, to calm the angry market gods? It’s usually the most idiotic, insulting and tiresome option, so I’d guess the latter

Did the word “jobsworth” originate on That’s Life!? Or is it older?

I remember they used to have a feature with its own theme tune: “Jobsworth! Jobsworth! It’s more than me job’s worth…”

you've got the second-son imperial jobsworth cop who tries to cover up a murder on the basis it seems like a pain in the bollox

Yeah work time is when I do most of my posting. Who the fuck is this jobsworth?

A right See you next Tuesday - a pox ridden jobsworth

Coffee is, what, 99% water and a lot less polluting than all the stuff that gets washed off roadways and footpaths. This has #jobsworth written all over it.

it's properly jobsworth nonsense
October 22, 2025 at 9:12 AM
Quite apart from the general WTF at all of this, apparently it took *three* enforcement officers to tell this bemused woman not to pour coffee down the drain and issue a fine. Sometimes I miss That's Life and its Jobsworth awards.

The thing about the English is that they derive extreme pleasure from enforcing this petty jobsworth stuff but they turn a blind eye to actual systemic crimes

'Enforcement officers' = jobsworth plastic plods. FFS. How much oil/microplastic pollution gets swept down drains every day? Fine every driver! www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

This what happens when the CPS ran away like the jobsworth cowards they are.

It's also really stupid because if you were going to go and buy an over the counter medicine to purposely overdose your child, you'd be more likely to leave said child at home and just buy it anyway. The pharmacists must go to jobsworth school

Food shortages, prescription med shortages, skyrocketing cost of living, with plummeting standard of living. Whilst politicians get wealthier and ignore the chaos that is being created around us by every jobsworth & busybody, especially Tories over the last 14 years.

Avocado/feta buzz abruptly wrecked by the absolute state of a German jobsworth at the Ryanair gate. I wasn't even his target, but he plunged everyone within earshot into a downer. This airline continues to be our national shame.

Absolutely this. My last one I had a really solid case for but it was a judgement call, and I did run into a complete jobsworth, and I basically just stood there and very politely smiled and answered ‘but I’m here now and I’d really like a vaccine please?’ repeatedly until they just jabbed me 🤣

Most odd, perhaps query it with passport office in case some jobsworth refuses to accept it, damning your travel plan.

Mines a gorgeous navy blue with gold. Very stylish.
