31: Currently? Universe names. I've also been working more on my world's pantheon. But a decent chunk of time has been trying to find the name that feels ✨right✨ for my fantasy world. It's been harder than I thought lol. 😅

30: I don't have enough of a text limit to list them all lol. 😅

But the biggest would be Elder Scrolls, folklore/myths/legends, Frieren, Shadowhunters, plenty of fae & other fantasy/paranormal media of all kinds. 🥰🐉

29: Mostly ambiance audios out that sound like you're in a fairy forest or on a fantasy quest, etc. with some classical "fantasy-like" music. Some video game OST's will spark the worldbuilding vibe for me, as well. 😌

28: Dryads live in the forest. More specifically, the root systems that connect the forest with the massive tree in the heart of the forest.

Along with a lone few people, and adventurers will camp in it, ofc.

Day 31... What am I researching.

Well, I tried to look up a beetle, the insect, fact earlier and got blasted with car facts 😆 (it was about travel)

Talitha Harbor has a twin planet. My goal for August is to come up with some science. It won't be my first attempt. 😅

28: People Living in the Forest

In the Great Cities, no. But, there's a group called The Pure Dawn Collective, which lives on an island, and sort of does. They're near the coast where there's a natural clearing. They live without tech and rely on the island for most things.

27: Resources

They get a LOT from the native plants and animals, but very carefully. It's a anti-consumerist society to further push their strong environmental values. They rely on synthetic as little as possible. See below for a short list:

Architectural & Geographical features/formations/landforms (like wells, springs, knolls, hillocks, outcrops, groves, hollows, stiles, copses, arbors, and so on). I like to give detailed descriptions of my fictional places.

27: Depends on the season, etc. But resources from Snowcrest Weald would be mostly wood, herbs, fungi & fruits naturally harvested from it. And a special, magical type of revitalizing berry that's rarely given out by the Dryads.

26: In my WIP, with the current situation in the mortal realm (brewing war/dangerous weather) & spirit realm (corrupting magic overtaking/spilling out), Jari doesn't hear any myths of Snowcrest Weald, nor see any of its entities.

Things I have researched recently include: Japanese fighting techniques, Australian aboriginal names, and the history of different forms of currency.

25: Typical alpine fauna & flora are found in Snowcrest Weald for the most part. There are some magical creatures also found within its depths, but they tend to be more elusive.

24: Snowcrest Weald is fairly typical for a northern, alpine forest. Other than the magical trees that can extend their roots & the massive tree at its heart that the Dryads call home, & other magical things like that lol. 😜✨

23: Jari spends quite a decent amount of the WIP in the forest (Snowcrest Weald). Travelling between quests and assignments he ends up going on in Dragola (country's name).

22: Snowcrest Weald.

It's the forest Jari (MC) visits quite often (in my gay Narnia vibes fantasy WI).

21: Jari doesn't really interact with any public events/contests/games in my WIP, so I haven't really touched upon it in-depth yet in my worldbuilding. It's in the works, but not fleshed out enough for me to share yet.

20: Quite a few. For example, in my WIP, Jari joins in on a festival called "Alignment Day" (also called "Rivil Alignment") where all the celestial planets align. Rivil was the name of the Fae who first noticed it.

19: So far, I haven't fully developed any costumes/games for festivals in my fantasy world. The only festival that Jari (MC) goes to doesn't have specific costumes & he doesn't join it for long enough to see it all.

The last thing I researched was the black death. I watched a documentary on it.

But I'm always learning new things and some of it ends up in my books/stories.

Farewell, July! Prompt Wrap-Up
#QueerPrompts #FantasyIndiesJuly

Didn't do as many prompts this time. However, these and #JulyWorldbuilders spawned two new fucking projects, as this universe inside me expands.

I'm afraid of dying because I only have one novel out, so a universe will die with me.

Currently? Nothing. Been on a break, wrapping up the first draft and just in a laid back vacation mode.

Once I get started again? The next thing is probably on military supply trains, frontier travel and mass transportation of food before widespread refrigeration.

#JulyWorldbuilders For some time now I've been going through Madeline James's worldbuilding guide, sprucing up the World Beneath the Arch a little. 🧵

Day 31 - Not a damn thing. I'm currently re-editing "The Blade and the Will" for the millionth time in pursuit of perfection I'll never reach. And also because I'm stalling because I don't know how to self-publish and I have no artwork to staple onto it.

#JulyWorldbuilders, Day 31: What are you currently researching for your worldbuilding?

Too many things to list, but I think the most memorable is the existence of Kosher plumbing standards.

As a nonobservant/cultural Jew who's been getting more into it in recent years, that was a fun one to study.

July 30: media that inspired ”Shaman of Hinam” worldbuilding.

A Charm or Magpies
Shōnen Onmyōji
Inuyasha
Documentaries on tropical rainforests
Horizon Zero Dawn
Zoo Books 😆
#JulyWorldbuilders NEW prompt list! Featuring new questions in place of the snippet shares. Enjoy! Once again, I say I will try to answer for them, but I know I will fall behind 🤣

I've been looking up birdcalls to help me figure out what harpy speech and names might sound like. The non-harpy characters can't pronounce her name with their merely human throats, but she's happy to let them come close enough by calling her Chihoo.

Most of #NICEF was supplied by anime, sci-fi, and my hobby-level obsession with cosmology and robotics. Thanks PBS Spacetime! XD
