Putting on my communications cap, here's a thread about the @bostonglobe coverage of #junotdiaz. First thing you need to understand is why PR firms aim to place stories in newspapers in the first place. Most people think it’s to influence public opinion. Not true.

For the women who are afraid to come forward: I will stand with you. So will @monicabyrne13 and many others. I know it's scary but the love and support I've gotten far outweighs any ridiculousness spewed by random Twitter trolls. It's worth taking the chance. #JunotDiaz

Hey, I was quoted in today’s @BostonGlobe article on #JunotDiaz and I have a few things to say about his response. At no point does he deny any part of our meeting. He doesn't deny that he reached out to me on a dating site. (cont)

Which brings me to #MeToo, #JunotDiaz and why I wrote my essay for The Rumpus. It’s too hard for women to speak up solo after being abused. Even if they aren’t in physical danger, the pain of being disbelieved, insulted, and pressured to shut up is intolerable. (cont)
