Look at this ridiculous primitive country, casting out its sex pests rather than making them Presidents or Mayors or Supreme Court justices

In Virginia, the governor and attorney general races are especially important. In Pennsylvania, remember to vote YES on the retention of the Supreme Court justices on the ballot. In California, vote YES on Proposition 50.

Remember during oral argument on the presidential immunity case when conservative justices scoffed at and mocked the hypothetical that a president with immunity could just start killing whoever he wanted and there was nothing that could be done if he has immunity?

When Repubs throw a lot of money at something, you know they're up to no good. They're trying to skew the election for Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justices so they can put far-right judges on the bench. Don't let them.

Vote YES! to Retain Justices

FUCK the Justices who voted to give him this power.

They shat on the Constitution!
Q: What did you mean when you said you're prepared to send 'more than the National Guard' into American cities?

TRUMP: if I want to enact a certain act, I'd be allowed to do whatever I want. The courts wouldn't get involved. Nobody would. I could send Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines -anybody I want

the unspoken assumption in this post is that the justices are not political actors and arrived at the immunity decision purely out of jurisprudential reasoning or idealogical lean and had nothing to do with trump being the standard bearer for their party in an election that was months away
Any DOJ/Garland counterfactual also has to reckon with the immunity ruling last year. It doesn’t really matter when or how the cases were brought if that was always going to be the endpoint.
as tempting as it is to blame this on garland personally, I think a lot of it was an ingrained, institutionally cautious culure at doj. it was (before january 2025) a building full of careful, by-the-book people

Trump is once again running to the Supreme Court. His administration has asked the justices to block a D.C. appeals court ruling that determined he lacked the authority to dismiss Shira Perlmutter, the director of the U.S. Copyright Office.

In a week we’ll know whether voters gave three Pennsylvania Supreme Court justices another term on the court – but the spending in the race already tells us a lot about the politics of state courts today 1/

Over the past 3 days, the Senate has completely rejected the Trump tariff regime, first voting against the Brazil & Canada tariffs, & now all the reciprocal ones. It comes right before a Supreme Court hearing on the reciprocal tariffs. Justices should note that Congressional intent is clear.
Senate rejects Trump's global tariffs, the final vote in a series of rebukes
Once again, four Republicans joined with Democrats to approve a resolution condemning a signature part of the president's agenda.

This suggests that a majority is at least skeptical of Trump's argument that his deployment of the Guard is totally unreviewable in court, which is a relief. Seems the justices are debating the meaning of the statute—not whether its limits can be enforced against the president in the first place.
BREAKING: SCOTUS defers any ruling for now in DOJ's request in the Nat'l Guard deployment case out of Illinois.

Instead, the court asks for briefing about the term "regular forces" in Section 12406 — a matter raised by @martylederman.bsky.social.

The means the TRO stays in effect for now.

you'd think as a constitutional scholar he'd find it a little more important to educate supreme court justices on how they should do their job.
