He's got to be the major inspiration for Kid Kavalier in "Alien: Earth".

The large Taschen edition of the works of Hans-Rüdi Giger and my hardcover copy of "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay".

There’s a tiny aside in The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay where a main character sees two men kissing, both with mustaches and neckties “with the overdetermination of a dream,” that rewired something in my young brain about what you could do in a sentence and what that could do for a book
performative reading, lack of reading skills, nobody's reading anymore -- NO!

tell me about a book that changed you

for me? the *extremely* ahistorical novel, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY which I read at 13 and was like, "Oh, art can be *everything* to a maker, for good and bad"

I’m sure this will be a popular answer but reading Michael Chabon’s THE AMAZING ADVENTURES OF KAVALIER AND CLAY for the first time in college was one of the greatest experiences of my life. If you believe the adage like I do that great art is about everything that book is a prime example.

I was also thinking - looks like typeface on signs in the American Girl Doll sets for the dolls in the ‘30s and ‘40s. Or the cover of “The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay” (Michael Chabon)

Meanwhile at the Met the new Anti-Nazi opera and its themes of personal and artistic freedom, “the Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay” set box office records and will return in February for an encore run.

Good god. I dont think I ever posted this, but I took this screencap on Sept 23rd. This is so insane but also way too honest about motivations in a way that more people relate to than would admit.

Thank you to @gamesdonequick.com and @helix.midwestspeedfest.com for having me on the latest episode of Parallel Universe to showcase Enemy Zero! Did you spot all the joke edits I made on the game terminal windows?

However, by the end of the season it's clear that Boy Kavalier, supposedly the smartest human alive, has really not thought any of this through and so what should be the most secure place on the planet is little more than an open prison. Humans are as arrogant as they are stupid; I get it.

Very successful lunchtime charity shop visit. Basically new blue Wranglers in my size for four quid, Trawl by BS Johnson and Kavalier and Klay by Michael Chabon for £1.50 each.

Boy Kavalier is such a great character. i genuinely dont think ive seen a fictional tech ceo ever satirized better. and i use "satire" loosely as it seems too small a word for BK.

I loved Kavalier and Clay, but that's the only one of his books I fully enjoyed.

Oh one last thing: first time I saw a singer get booed during the curtain call was the Nazi in Kavalier & Clay. What an honor!
