"Tariffs are 'national security!'"

"The ballroom is 'national security!'"

"Suing the BBC is 'national security!'"

"Slaughtering Venezuelan fishermen is 'national security!'"

"Torturing day laborers is 'national security!'"

NONE of this is "national security" but it is Naziism 101.
Bessent claims that if SCOTUS rules against Trump on tariffs "they will be ruling against national security"

How can anyone call themselves educated and then also believe that day laborers can buy houses?

This is outside Minneapolis. Like Chicago, a big part of their strategy is just driving around looking for laborers to abduct. They failed this time.
Masked men wearing ICE vests—but who refused to present a warrant or identify themselves—roped off a construction site, trapping two men on a roof for hours in subzero temps. Protesters gathered. Masked men eventually left, and one man on the roof was taken away by ambulance kstp.com/kstp-news/to...

Something, something, LEGACY ADMISSIONS AT HARVARD 33+%? I guess lots of house painters, laborers, factory line workers were Harvard grads...

ICE and the FBI conscripts are not looking for criminals. Catching criminals is too hard! They’re looking for gardeners, preschool teachers, taco sellers, restaurant cooks, and day laborers looking for work to feed their families.

We actually are starting to see rents come down a bit, but that probably has more to do with homebuilding picking up in a lot of cities, not the Trump administration's predilection for terrorizing day laborers. www.realtor.com/research/nov...

the way they’re also literally taking the place of the actual laborers who built this shit is quite on the nose
I guess it's fitting that it's a reimagined, worse version of someone else's artwork

The idea of framing this vainglorious billionaire lot as modern day versions of the gritty, hard-bitten, working class, manual laborers who, for a pittance of wages, risked their lives and used their hands to make real the skyscraper dreams of the wealthy and middle classes is….lunacy.
I guess it's fitting that it's a reimagined, worse version of someone else's artwork

Mark Zuckerberg is censoring or deleting LGBTQIA+ and reproductive health accounts across the various Meta platforms. Stay safe out there, folks, and remember: the rich people in charge right now only value you as laborers or as incubators for future laborers.

And the original represented the hard work of laborers, many immigrants, and represented hope for a better future.

front line letters from the laborers whose hands shaped the 21st century world we inhabit. extraordinary writing
New @equatormag.bsky.social: Zheng Xiaoqiong’s revelatory oral history of migrant laborers in Guangdong’s factories. These stories, which were too sensitive to publish in China, appear here for the first time in any language, in Eleanor Goodman’s translation:

Yeah, it's telling that the "protect the racist in the name of labor solidarity" crowd isn't thinking of the other laborers who are hurt by the racism.

I love the CTA (the operators, station attendants, mechanics, and other laborers)

I hate the CTA (its managers, administrators, and other detestable bureaucrats)

They deported all the laborers who would have done a rebuild for you.

The whole thing makes more sense if Santa is small! Also removes the weird power dynamic at the North Pole if he’s just one of the little guys and not seemingly a giant in charge of hundreds of tiny laborers.
do you ever think about what we lost, as a society, when we decided that Santa Claus was regular human size and not tiny

Reddit is serving me ads for a $400 wool shirt that claims to be "workwear" and the co-option of blue collar working clothes into a goddamned fashion style that people pay $400 for makes me want to scream. At least subsidize us regular manual laborers by buying the brands we wear.

Just a semi-regular reminder that "agents" are a fantasy technology.

"Digital laborers" do not, and will not, exist.

Probably a former bunkhouse for farm laborers. Late 19th century structure. Indoor bathroom probably a reno. Meth lab in 2004 also the same but amateur.

Their relationship to capital is one of extracting surplus value from their laborers still. The fact that they're more precariously positioned than the grande bourgeoisie is not an ameliorating factor, but an exacerbating one as it pushes them to engage in further rentseeking tyranny to avoid

Yep. There's an army of laborers whose assistance is required who are paid substandard wages. Billion dollar fortunes are never accumulated without exploitation and skullduggery.

the only people who will be left to produce culture are the failchildren of the elite, now reduced to producers, who direct laborers in Africa to teach their Adolf Hitler Speak n Spell promotional material for sports betting, institutionalized pederasty, and government gangs who torture brown people
there is no such thing as a technology without social reproduction. if you insist on the moral value of your individual development, you must consider the moral value of all social reproduction. LLM technology is a means to turn poverty wage labor into rape culture which worships child abusing nazis

My dad (plumber) said he was working on an industrial site this week when a foreman asked for all of the undocumented laborers to identify themselves. There were six. The foreman told them all to get into a van. My dad started to approach to speak up, and one of his friends told him to relax.

Fact is college profs/instructors are, in the main, underpaid *laborers* who do the work for love, not wealthy elites nefariously plotting the takeover of anything. We’re not nearly organized or in any way united enough for that anyway. Plus, it’s college admins have all the actual power.
