The eastern amberwing (Perithemis tenera) is a species of dragonfly in the family Libellulidae. It is very small, reaching a total length of no more than 25 millimetres (0.98 in). Males have orange or amber wings, and both sexes have a red pterostigma. The species is found in eastern North America, from northern Mexico northwards to south-eastern Canada. The eastern amberwing is one of the only types of dragonfly that actively mimics a wasp; the yellow and brown stripes on its abdomen encourage predators to stay away. Ruddy Darter Sympetrum sanguineum from the family Libellulidae. Seen earlier in the summer.

It was one of those hot days, and this little guy was feeling the heat. It's in an obelisk position to try to cool down.

はじめは黄色い #トンボ だけど性成熟すると体が黒くなって、さらにお腹が水色になっていく。　シオカラトンボと同じで青白い粉を吹くらしい。

黒いオスばかりいる草むらがあったんだけど、なぜなのかしら。　あんまり逃げなくて、そろっと近づけば翅を触らせてくれた。

Lyriothemis pachygastra, a skimmer dragonfliy species that lives in eastern Asia. This individual is an immature male. This species has a distinctively broad abdomen. His compound eyes are brown, thorax and abdomen are black. His four wings are transparent, and the bases are tinted amber. Like other skimmer dragonfly species, its abdomen becomes covered with pale blue wax particles as it matures. Shot in Fukuoka prefecture, Japan. July 2021. De bloedrode heidelibel (Sympetrum sanguineum) is een echte libel (Anisoptera) uit de familie van de korenbouten (Libellulidae). De libel is in grote delen van zijn areaal een algemene soort die te herkennen is aan de dieprode kleur, hoewel het niet de enige rode libel is. Het is met een spanwijdte tot 6 centimeter een middelgrote soort. De bloedrode heidelibel komt voor in grote delen van Europa, waaronder België en Nederland. Het is een generalist die rond verschillende wateren leeft en een van de meest voorkomende heidelibellen (geslacht Sympetrum). (Deze wijsheid komt van Wikipedia af)

Das abgebildete Insekt ist eine Gemeine Heidelibelle (Sympetrum vulgatum), eine Art der Segellibellen (Libellulidae).Sie saß auf einer künstlichen! Pflanze in meinem Blumenkasten, die ich da mal reingesteckt hatte. Hintergrund unscharf echte Pflanzen.

Common whitetails (Odonata: Libellulidae: Plathemis lydia) inhabit much of North America. Like other dragonflies they tend to stay near water, where they lay eggs bearing their aquatic young. While males do have a white tail, females like this one do not. Blissfield Michigan, 30 Jun 2012.

Out of the eleven families of dragonflies, three are relatively common in North America: Gomphidae (clubtails, shown here), Aeshnidae (hawkers and darners), and Libellulidae (skimmers). About 90%+ of what I see are skimmers, so it's cool for me when I see a clubtail.
