#Lorde’s
For me it's the rock workout scene.

I compared lorde's treadmill bit to Sisyphus and this whole video felt like a little absurdist wink to me

bsky.app/profile/arts...
One must imagine Sisyphus happy

There is so much stubborn hope in the human heart -> we were wild & florescent come home to my heart

They deify what crushes them & find reason to hope in what impoverishes them -> I made you god cuz it was all I knew how to do

(Not my video)

I’ve always thought Audre Lorde’s insistence that “the master’s tools will never dismantle the master’s house” rather wrong-headed for precisely the reason alluded to supra. Unless one intends simply to burn it down, in which case…yeah, OK.

apropos of nothing, I’ve currently got Lorde’s Perfect Places in my head.

Lorde's other work, including her most recent album, definitely itches the angsty teen part of my brain, but this album I just absolutely love. In my top 10 albums for sure, probably top 5.

ICYMI: Setlist For Lorde's 'Ultrasound' Tour Of Australia & New Zealand Revealed
Setlist For Lorde's 'Ultrasound' Tour Of Australia & New Zealand Revealed
Lorde launched the New Zealand leg of her Ultrasound World Tour at Auckland’s Spark Arena last night (11 February) and has thus offered an indication of what to expect ahead of her Australian tour dates. Touring in support of her latest album, Virgin, released last June, fans will hear every song from her latest record – not played from start to finish, but instead, interspersed alongside numerous fan favourites. Melodrama and Pure Heroine were the next most represented albums the Royals singer performed in Auckland last night, with hits including Green Light, Ribs, Perfect Places, and Team. Solar Power fans will only hear two tracks from the album – Big Star and Oceanic Feeling. In Auckland, Lorde performed a special rendition of the latter, partially performing the traditional form of waiata. You can find the first setlist from New Zealand below as we prepare for Lorde’s return to Australia. Following her New Zealand dates, which conclude at Wolfbrook Arena in Christchurch tomorrow (13 February), Lorde heads to Australia for another six shows. She’s set to perform at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Monday, 16 February, Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena (Wednesday, 18 February, and Thursday, 19 February), Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena (Saturday, 21 February, and Sunday, 22 February), and Perth’s RAC Arena on Wednesday, 25 February. You can find remaining—and just released—tickets to the shows on the Frontier Touring website. For the Australian and New Zealand leg of the tour, Lorde is accompanied by special guest Kevin Abstract of BROCKHAMPTON fame. Lorde last toured Australia in March 2023 in support of her 2021 record, Solar Power. That tour marked her first shows Down Under in six years. Following its release, Virgin debuted at #1 on the Australian and New Zealand album charts and features the hit singles What Was That, Man Of The Year, and Hammer. In a recent cover story interview with The Music, Lorde explained that she called her latest album Virgin due to a “rebirth” she experienced in 2023. She explained, “I changed a lot about my life, and I took away a lot of the structures that I had relied upon to be like, ‘This is my life, and I know what I'm doing.’ My vibe for a long time had been: I got this. I think a lot about this album is choosing to not know where it’s going to go, and let it happen to you.” Lorde at Spark Arena, Auckland, New Zealand Setlist on Wednesday, 11 February: Act I 1.        Hammer 2.        Royals 3.        Broken Glass 4.        Buzzcut Season 5.        Favourite Daughter 6.        Perfect Places Act II 7.        Shapeshifter 8.        Current Affairs 9.        Supercut 10.   GRWM 11.   400 Lux 12.   The Louvre Act III 13.   Hine-i-te-Awatea / Oceanic Feeling (Partially performed as a Waiata) 14.   Big Star 15.   Liability 16.   Clearblue 17.   Man of the Year Act IV 18.   If She Could See Me Now 19.   Team 20.   What Was That 21.   Green Light 22.   David Encore: 23.   Ribs Embedded Content Embedded Content Embedded Content Embedded Content

an early version trying to assemble Lorde's thinking

But!

There's a contemporary distortion that goes "celebrate difference," and that circulates much more readily than Lorde's thinking. I'll have to find a way to think through (and against) that distortion.

Thank you! This is useful.
February 12, 2026 at 6:46 AM
I'll have to think about that. Since I'm using Lorde's approach to difference, that's not quite a possibility. Difference is frightening, she writes. It (usually) is a source of fracture and conflict. She's trying to think with that.

Very pleased at how students are taking to the (admittedly dense) material so far!

Unit 1 kicked off our exploration of universalism/particularism by introducing some relevant theory excerpts (McGowan & Lorde) and starting to compare Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” to Césaire’s “A Tempest.”

Its iconic! It exists in the same mental folder in my brain as the Audre Lorde quote “the masters tools will never dismantle the master’s house” but has the advantage of both BATMAN and the avoiding the ick of stretching Lorde’s quote outside if it’s specific context.
