TWO CAN PLAY THAT GAME: The official Massachusetts SNAP website now warns that Trump is “choosing not to issue November SNAP benefits that help you and many families put food on the table.” It also warns of cuts due to “Congressional Republicans and President Trump” in the “One Big Beautiful Bill.”

In Massachusetts your cousin can either be a "good kid," a "piece of shit" or "a piece of a shit, but a good kid."
A cousin is anyone near your age in your family or some kid who is around a lot and an aunt is an older lady who gives a shit about you.

Our hearts are with the people of Jamaica, Haiti, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic as Hurricane Melissa moves through the Caribbean.

I’m thinking of their loved ones here in Massachusetts and praying for the safety and strength of all.

YUP. Yup yup yup. Not just human services in places like Massachusetts, but other industries as well. In DC a HUGE portion of the construction workforce is Salvadorans with TPS, and they've had it for 24 years so it's senior machine operators and managers — people who are HARD to replace.
An additional thing here, which I was posting about Friday, is how revocation of TPS is going to absolutely devastate the human services workforce
The biggest barrier to care for disabled folks in Massachusetts is staffing. Staffing is an issue because direct care workers are not paid a thriving wage. They are not paid enough because our state has ridiculously low reimbursement rates for these services. And that means less care and worse care.

When Massachusetts passed a "millionaires tax" in 2023, conservatives claimed the rich would flee.

But two years later, they haven't — and MA has collected $5.7B for infrastructure and public education.

A reminder that positive change can still happen at the state level.
