In the sea of instability, no atom and thus no element can exist. The extremely short-lived Rf-252 with a half-life of 60 nanoseconds was produced and guided to the detection system thanks to an isomeric state – hovering in the "cloud of stability" – with a half-life of 13 microseconds, more than 200 times longer than the ground state.
