So sorry. And I'm sorry I don't even have any words except to say that I feel this down to my marrow. I hope you don't give up. There are so few of us as it is and we need to stick around for each other. I hope you can find (or even just borrow) the will just for the next moment. Then the one after

Thank you for the Bone Marrow drive especially. My great-grandson received a bone marrow treatment to hopefully help treat his LCH. He's only 6 and has been battling it for two years. Bless you, all that joined the registry!

Had we pursued aggressive treatment, he would have gone back to the ICU for more fluids and another feeding tube, which he hated. He would have needed a bone marrow biopsy, and had the issue turned out to be cancer, he likely would have needed chemo.

We'll never know the reason why, but his bone marrow was not properly producing red blood cells to replace those that were lost to the infection. The medication helped to stabilize him somewhat, but he never managed to regain normal levels.

Isn't that a little tough without existent marrow? I would think the bones would tend to slough anything present during life while calcifying. Can't they sometimes tell from the apparent spreading of the rib cage? I would think there would be differences from young female skeletons to older ones.

Thanks to everyone who came to our office to donate blood and join the bone marrow registry this Halloween!
We gave away over 100 hot dogs, 15 pounds of candy, signed up 50 people for the bone marrow registry, and collected 28 units of blood —which is more blood than in three people’s bodies!

Organizers should always be encouraging bone marrow donor registration! The registry is not diverse enough which means if you are not white, it’s much harder to find a match.
